I'm now operating the HMMWV in an extremely cold mountain environment (it's 12 degrees this morning and the roads are between 7,000 and 11,000 feet here) and it's also sitting for as much as a month at a time.
Wondering if anyone uses any additives to deal with these kind of factors, like...
As posted above, https://www.49dollarmontanaregisteredagent.com/ is the way to go. I've used now for several vehicles and have two more in the registration process now.
I got that email and thought it was weird, especially since I noticed the number of government liquidation auctions has plunged over the last few weeks.
Something is up.
That green case is almost certainly a Stinger case, I have one myself and it looks identical to that including the latches. (I don’t have a Stinger, I have a case!)
Impossible to know, given how the speedos get swapped routinely by the military. I’ve seen a couple with 2,000 miles that looked like they’d been to the moon and back.
I’ve installed that port extension (from another maker) in my boat and it requires a big hole - NoCo shows it’s a 2” diameter port. You’d do better to use a 12 gauge extension cable run through the vehicle and terminating at the front or rear bumper with a normal AC plug dangling there, then...
Duh. Why didn't I think of that? I have the same thing on my boat. I am totally abandoning my original plan of 24 volt charge via slave. I will get the NOCO 2 bank charger, should I get the 5 or 10 amp version?
Amazon.com: NOCO Genius GEN5X2, 2-Bank, 10-Amp (5-Amp Per Bank) Fully-Automatic...
I love mine, the best addition I made to the truck. I use it for shooting, yes, but also for other things like sitting a skeleton up there and driving in our local Halloween fest parade. The kids also love to pop their heads out.
Also I am looking for a 20 foot slave cable to jump a dead HMMWV as my friend's 1165 was dead the other day and we had to resort to charging each battery on a 12 volt charger, which took forever. If anyone knows of a Nato one cheaper than the $225 or so on ebay please shoot me a line.
Dredging up a topic that's been discussed here before but it looks like two of the models people like are now discontinued or unavailable.
So I am looking for a reco on a 24 Volt trickle charger to keep the HMMWV batteries charged over the winter (I don't expect to be driving much until the...
The lessons here are:
1. collision insurance is a good investment on more expensive models, given that parts for a HMMWV cost an arm an a leg
2. a dashcam, or even better a 4-channel DVR recording system (front, rear, sides) pays for itself with one incident like this. The red explorer could...
