Tap N Die Starter Bolt holes. Yep it happened.

I recently had a starter bolt break off. First time experience for me too. I got a reverse drill bit, took a bit of asking for at different stores, but finally found one that could get me one. After a bit of very carefull drilling the drill caught the broken piece and drove it out. Sent from...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I've had 3 fires before. First one was my mom's Daihatsu Cuore which I was driving after an oil leak fix. Caught fire at the cooling fan connector. Second was at the window electric window buttons on my work's Iveco Daily. I guess it got wet in the rain (I maneuver trailers around a lot...

    M1009 to use for parts?

I've my mind set on doing a lift, plus mine came with sagged fronts. It barely cleared the worn 37s it came with, let alone the new ones, having thread makes a big difference lol. Edit: I wired over a deposit. Going to pick it up within the next 2 weeks.

    M1009 to use for parts?

I was just hoping I could keep off buying a lift kit, because buying this truck would blow my budget for that. Maybe combine leafs + U brackets as a cheap fix for a couple if months? I'm still not 100% sure, but I think I'm calling the guy and doing a deposit tomorrow morning so I can pick it...

    M1009 to use for parts?

I had a look today. Pretty good truck. Doors show some (minor) rust on the bottom, and the driver's side rocker panel is rotted through. Looks like the sliding rear window in the bulkhead seems the right size. Engine starts well (cold start), smokes a bit, but after warming up it doesn't. Less...

    M1009 to use for parts?

AC would've been nice. Anyway, I just got off the phone with the guy. He doesn't seem to know a lot about the truck's history tho. It's supposedly as good as rust free. The previous owner converted it to 12V, hence why one generator is gone. No biggie for me. Last "buyer" let it go because it...

    M1009 to use for parts?

The CARC paint does give away that it's a military vehicle, just never heard of bulkheads before, those are new to me. Not a lot of US cars around here, not to mention CUCVs... I'm guessing the bulkhead would allow for "standard" windows tho, meaning it would possibly fit my M1028? If I buy this...

    M1009 to use for parts?

I just found what seems to be an M1009 online that I'm interested in for parts to fix up my M1028. I can re-use the doors, mirrors, fenders, windshield, dash/door panels, tank (doing a Blazer swap has been on my mind for a while). I'll have a spare engine, transmission and transfer case (having...

CUCV in a new video games

Someone also made an CUCV for SpinTires. Includes the brushguard. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EZxV7OPMGXQ I actually exported the model to 3D Studio Max so I could play around with it.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I paid €35 including (national) shipping here in the Netherlands. Probably expensive? I found an ad and didn't bargain, thought this was well worth it. When researching I read that they can be found for $10 up on junkyards and eBay. The swap itself is pretty easy, I bet it can be done in 15...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Less play with U joints instead of rag joint. Steering feels much more direct. Do a google search. A LOT of people did the swap. It's pretty much a direct fit.

Did the XJ steering shaft mod. Steering feels much better now.

I've found 37x12.5 R16.5 Goodyear Wranglers (Military OZ) on Marktplaats for 195 euro a piece (new). Best I've found in stores are 400 euros+. I'll send you a PM with the link.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Tire change! Moved the rear wheels to the front (those still have enough profile), new tires on the rear... Never thought about the rear rims being wider, the tires are rubbing the front fenders now..., so I have to switch them around again. It's at the garage for annual inspection (MOT) now...

    Couple of questions

Linkage seemed allright. Will check cable. Ive noticed this behavior a couple times since I've owned the truck, but it always went straight away and stayed away for a while. Today it was pretty bad. Sent from my A0001 using Tapatalk

    Couple of questions

Ok guys, so I've been driving a bit today and after a while the accelerator pedal would only go down a tiny bit, making me accelerate very slowly. Sometimes it would suddenly go back to normal, sometimes during driving, sometimes after a stop. Any ideas where to look?

    Couple of questions

I got the broken starter bolt piece out! Used a left cutting drill bit to drill into it, and it just threaded back out when the bit got caught in it. Put the starter back in place although I still need to fix the stud that holds the bracket to the engine.

****, you got of lucky. Could've been a big mess with 2 and a half tons of unstoppable steel. Been wondering, are there any specialty tools needed for brake maintenance (front or rear)?
