    Couple of questions

Not much of a progress report. Work and bad weather held me back. I did find something I can use as a drill guide, so less chance of messing up the threads... Sent from my A0001 using Tapatalk

    Couple of questions

Found the lines at LMC, I'll keep them in mind. My dad got me some tools to remove the starter bolt. Hope it'll stay dry for a bit tomorrow. For the bracket bolt/stud I think I'll have to get the starter on without the bracket, drive it to my work and get a nut welded on to get it out. Just...

    Couple of questions

Great replies guys, I am a bit wiser now. Glad you guys pointed out the rubber hoses. I feel kinda stupid now for not noticing/thinking anything about them hanging loose like that. Seems easy enough to fix. Here's a picture of the broken stud and a picture I found displaying how it should be...

    Couple of questions

Hey guys, I was under my truck to take the starter out after breaking a bolt. I got new bolts and a bracket, but it seems that the threaded stud on the engine block for attaching the bracket is broken. Can this stud be replaced? On the flexplate inspection cover are 2 threaded holes, what are...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

One of my starter bolts broke off. :( Ordered new ones + a couple spares. When they arrive I'll install the Jeep XJ steering shaft I bought as well. Just brought home some new military Wranglers (37x12.50 R16.5) for a good price! Tires won't go on until I get a lift kit installed tho! Except...

How to remove the instrument cluster?

I think you are right about the brittleness. Although I did not break anything, someone before me sure did, still use-able tho. I thought about cleaning up the circuit a bit, but new ones aren't THAT expensive. In an old thread (2012) I saw someone mention LMC part 83-8036 (without gauges, 81...

How to remove the instrument cluster?

I feel kinda stupid now, but it turned out to be pretty easy. Slide it left a bit, then angle the top forward, remove the plug and pull it out. It might indeed be easier by taking a hair (or two) off the opening. Sent from my A0001 using Tapatalk

How to remove the instrument cluster?

As the title says, how do I remove the instrument cluster? It's in there pretty tight? I can wiggle it around, but I don't see a way to pull it out!

Headlight bezels are done. Camera kinda makes it look glossy, but it is matte (not as matte as I hoped, but it'll do). Grille got it's first layer of paint, one more tomorrow.

It's a working rig alright, but it's also my pride and joy haha. The paint sticking is most important tho, it being rough fits the truck anyway. A totally smooth finish wouldn't fit the truck. Hitch is on. Barely any room between the tailgate and the handle when the hitch is open. [emoji28]...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Little while ago we had a busy day at work, and logistically it was easier (for me) if I brought my own truck. Decided to pull this trailer over the market we where breaking down, figured I'd stop if the truck started struggling. It didn't. In the end that trailer must have weighed at least...

Exactly 2722kg tow rating as well. (I have a 4000kg Rockinger hitch (vangmuil) laying around that I want to put on it. Might try and get tow rating adjusted to that). Not sure if I get the chance to lift it up soon, any other way to tell if it has a slip diff in there? Btw., I sometimes use it...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

It is a M1028. I bought it thinking it was an M1008 until I saw the data plate in the door which was a nice surprise. It could off-course be a replacement door but max weight on license card is 4267 kg (M1008 would be about 3080 kg). VIN also suggest M1028 (1GCHD...) and it has a NP205 transfer...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Good to see another CUCV owner from the Netherlands on here! (I'm from Amersfoort). Not very exciting, but I to add to the topic, I got my bed rails back from plating: After: Before: When I'm going to paint the truck (after rust repair/removal) I want them black tho. Will have to...

How to spot 1028 vs 1008

I guess the easiest way is to look at the data plate on the driver's door?

    M1008 37"tires

I can't say for sure but I believe 3 leaves in the front and 9 or 10 in the back. Mine is an M1028 with 3 in the front (I think that's the same between models) and 10 in the back (probably more then an M1008 for the increased capacity).

    New starter question

Please don't mind me jumping in on this conversation, but my starter is nearing it's end so this is interesting to me too. About a month and a half ago it wouldn't work, gave it some taps with a wrench and it works again... makes noise... and sure to be completely dead soon. When I look at...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Glad you like them. :-D I figured square tubes would fit nicely on a square body. I didn't realize they weren't in the picture, but I cut some pieces to fit and welded them in. Btw., I want them painted black but I can get them zinc plated for free. Would it be wise to do so and then paint...

    Hello from the Netherlands

Thanks for the welcome guys! I see there's a "neighbor" on here too! Maybe you know some places in Germany (preferably close to the border) to get CUCV parts? The cold doesn't seem to be a problem, then again we haven't really had much of a winter yet, doubt we will, it's been 4 years...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Made some (amateurish) bed rails for my M1028. In the picture I just tagged it together, I later had a co-worker weld it properly.
