What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

If you go with an upgraded engine crossmember, now would be good. I'm still struggling with how I'm gonna do that with the engine in.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

installed the pinion guard. Followup: 4IY4X made it right by sending the correct part along with a prepaid shipper to return the other one. I'm satisfied with that.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Thats where I got it. I typically do business with ORD ( about $2100 so far), thought I'd give DIY a try. I told them over the phone: " I've never done business with you guys, so I'll order something small to see how it goes." Two day shipping took eight days, and its the wrong part. Says right...

    Opinions on M1009 Tires

I favor BFGs. I have the all terrain T/As on the Avalanche, and the Baja T/As on the Blazer.

How strong is the brush guard?

In this forum I don't think you'll find any haters. Fab away !! Now, some light hearted teasing might be in order, but thats all it is :)

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

It all started when I made a comment to my son-in-law about how I think the stock turn signals were rediculously large and that real estate could be better used for off-road LEDs. For my birthday he gave me a set of LEDs that just fit in that space. Well, here in AZ, its not required to have...

turn signals again Now that they have been installed for a month or so, I kinda like them. Industrial looking. I bought two sets of magnetic tow lights (almost free at Harbor Freight), took the amber lenses off one set then installed on the other set so both sides are amber. I can unplug them...

    My cucv lift

You can have a 6 inch lift + 37s without modifying the garage : one simply has to terminate the unjustified love affair with fenders :)

In the Engineering world, we call that "scope creep". "While it's apart, I'll do........" :)

    CUCV Winch?

Picked up the rear-most body mounts to the frame. The instances on the trail where I can no longer advance, it is best to back up and try a different line. I know that where I came from was good.

Re-wiring the whole truck: enough is enough

fuse panel Am narrowing down the search of components for the rewire. I like the specs on the Blue Sea Systems 12 circuit panel with ground bus: It has the screw type wire attach; I like that because I can solder terminals to the wires, then screw them down, and observe the integrity of that...

run low tire pressure with the magnesium inserts

Cut them down on the bandsaw, retains the double bead lock feature. I got these originally with the early,8 bolt wheels; transitioned them to the 12 bolt wheels with no issue.

My Build Thread: M909 Recreational Vehicle

I like the concept I can appreciate what you are doing there: I started with an M109A3, switched the box over to an M35A3 to get the CAT+Allison. The 5-ton looks like a more stable platform. Your driving impressions having driven both? Does it "feel" top heavy like the 109 did?

Too late now, but a thermal assay with shiny side down would have been interesting as well.

Possible bad ground, but which? Happens when brake applied.

Concur on the star ground above the park brake. Following advice from here, I inspected that and found nothing was attached to it. Cleaned it up good, attached the wires that were supposed to go there, what a difference. Turn signals, gauges, voltmeter, bunch of stuff works now. I think its safe...

clear hoses Well, now, I believe you are on to something....if I use clear hose, then the bright green coolant would show thru.............heeeey ;)

heater hoses Just because I've been meaning to do it as PM. An opportunity to change the coolant as well. Put the "splint" around the smaller hose at the alternator. Its an easy task, I just had to wait to be inspired to do it.
