working compliance stuff
Just to make my life easier. You see, the Blazer isn't a trailer queen yet: I have to drive it to/from the trail head. Maybe on a Federal highway once in awhile.
Mud flaps. Requirement in AZ for a lifted vehicle. An easy bust in Oro Valley as one has to pass thru...
OK.
Since I have been presented with a logical and reasonable argument, then I am willing to change my view.
I'll fix the turn signals.....and the license plate light...and install mud flaps (that IS a compliance thing around here for any lifted vehicle).
Yeah, FLU, I tried towing a Jeep once. The way my vehicle is set up, it became clear real quick that I should not be towing anything. Couldn't go over 30 MPH without the tail wagging the dog. So may as well ditch the hitch.
Actually, electrical signals are not mandatory here. Any mechanism that signals the driver's intent will do.
I'm not convinced that I like them there, maybe will do like a previous member suggested: use the inboard signals that the later models have.
itty bitty turn signals
turn signals, sort of. Left turn on at this moment, seeing if the aux LEDs overpower it. Oh, and I found a can of green paint ;)
Yeah, Chaski, "the trail" told me when to quit cutting. I need the big openings as I plan to go with 40's + take two inches of lift out. Otherwise it won't fit in the garage.
You can sorta see in the avatar that the suspension uses all the available space.
Yes, I am considering integrating the custom dash at roll cage installation. They will place openings for whatever I choose, so need to design carefully to maximize the benefit for the cost.
I am wiring the Blazer head to tail. Too many instances of a run of wire to a hand- crimped butt splice to another length of wire to a taped termination. Wires that go into a harness but don't come out. Connectors that don't connect to anything.
For my application , reliability is King...
lights today
Got the LEDs wired up. Still pondering the turn signal arrangement. The dominant thought in my little brain is to mount, not sure where, a pair of the 4 inch square LED lights, with a removable amber cover on the front, wired to the turn signal circuit. Turn signals on-road...
I like that strut-rod-thing. I even like it in pink. My thoughts are to do the xfer case clocking thing, to get it up out of the way. That would not solve the driveshaft-banging-in-to-it problem, would still need the rod, but a dimensionally (and chromatically) different one. Caterpillar yellow...
