Try testing it with the diode selection on your meter. As for a replacement virtually any bridge rectifier will do.

Easy check. Meter battery voltage when the engine is not running and again when its running. Voltage should be a but higher when running. That will verify the alternator is working

Generally yes that is correct. Anything with a motor cant be used. Some things that use line frequency for a clock signal will also not work correctly.

Not bad.
Little hint for future reference, If you need an LB (or LL/LR) and arent sure which to order. hold the fitting like a pistol LL for left and LR for right. For your install a LL might have been easier.
Did it work correctly before being stored?
I know you can get a starter hangup from the voltage regulator. Try this, disconnect the solenoid wire from the starter and see if K3 is being commanded on or if the contacts are in the energized position.
