well, I ordered the wrong ends (exactly opposite from what I needed), so returned and ordered the right ones. The male / female connector also has male / female pins that lock into it. Geez. I have also misplaced my arduino(s), and just found them, so I can test out the Eaton 1708 stuff now...
Totally, I'll take them too. CTIS is like power windows and AC of the 60's , misunderstood and considered non needed, but couldn't be without it years later. Just disconnect the ECU, and ride it out.
Go CTIS!
Did the SD (Swamp Donkey) backlight upgrade in red, no pics because it was BRIGHT out when I finished, then my 5-ton decided to not start, so had to just prime it. I THINK I was running low on fuel last time I pulled it in, and it hesitated once about 3 miles before home (like a dead pedal for a...
Did my upgrade today. Couple of pointers for you peeps. Make sure you screw in the screws tight, they are the ground, if a light doesn't light, I bet it's the screws. The spacers are easy to drop, use a little angle needle nose pliers, it works great. Use the bulb hole to use the pliers to...
When I pulled covers at the salvage yard, I found that most of the clear ones like the OP shows had red LED blinkers so the clear were the right covers. But if they are just normal bulbs, I agree, those would be blinding at night.
The field maintenance TM has a good troubleshooting procedure to isolate things, but it sounds like the parking brake wiring. If the low air light goes on and off correctly, than the two air sensors work ok, and is controlled by the fail safe, so that seems ok too. The fail safe is pretty easy...
Well, full flush and change #2 is in the books. I did way too much research and then called Prestone. What I had was an ELC, but is compatible with conventional green. And flushing it should have no side effect, no goop, or gelled stuff. I bet if it went with a different ELC, I wouldn't have...
Not dead, just on hold. 74M needs to try and get the terminators working. I am trying the 1708 protocol route with old Eatons and then going the harness route on the newer model. My model at least says it's supposed to have the protocols, but again, it could be the flash, and we don't get...
In other threads on the net I found, even one claiming to be an employee said the Cor-guard is a patented blend of I think 22 compounds or ingredients that give it the "new" protection against corrosion and cavitation. This sounds an awful lot like SCA's to me, but even seasoned guys still mix...
So I have 1 vote for #2 from simp... I will test the coolants for SCA's before I start, as the Cor-Guard stuff might actually be SCA's. I also may wait to call Prestone to see if they have a recommendation, I was leaning towards option#2 as well, but because of the semi (and I say that...
OK, seriously confused, and hope this doesn't start a war on coolant. I thought the stuff I was buying was regular green, but it is supposedly classified as an Extended Life Coolant, but is nice and green. The Napa chart I found puts it as a "Yellow".
Darnit! It's GREEN. I have heard...
Suprman pointed out a good concept, out of state registration or at least different county registration can save time and headache. My county requires diesel emissions yearly, and where the truck lives, that county does not. I will be saving $144 a year, and less worrying about some yahoo...
DMV had issues with my VIN, as did insurance. It will probably take several times through to get it squared away. I think 3 months on my truck, and three times on my MKT. it will happen, be persistent and helpful. Know their rules and usually there are some options specifically for MV...
Found another thread that most reported back with 3 gallons in a drained block. So all is normal. Will drive a bit and report back to see if this helped with the fan at all.
Well, it was coolant change day yesterday. I got all the supplies and used Prestone flush. Six bottles of it. As Simp stated Walmart is the cheapest by far. Napa sold flush for $4.99, Walmart, $2.52. Full strength coolant $10 something. I also bought distilled water there as well. 6...
I'll be pulling the coolant out this weekend, and try to get a video. I plan on draining, flushing with a radiator flush liquid and water, driving around for 20 min, then drain and fill. Anything else while I'm in there? Thermostat check / change?
I'll have everything for coolant filter...
