How many of these XM705s were built? I have seen about 4-5 come up over the years, makes me wonder how many "experimental prototypes" were made by GM for testing before they lost the bid.
Welcome from Front Royal, VA....
Used to live in the NRV for 5 years when I was going through college and afterwards. I miss Blacksburg and Christiansburg area, love to move back someday, it's a pretty area.
Looking to find more information out there on the web related to ham radios and military radios, specifically custom homebrew projects, old iron (boat anchors), restorations, maintenance, etc. Can anyone out there recommend a good forum on the internet that is similar in layout to this (any...
Hey Juergen, what computer program did you use in the 1st post to create a 3d model of your build design? I am trying to model my shelter build and, other than chicken scratch drawings by hand on beer napkins, I don't have anything that can display what I want to show like you have.
If it says they run in the description, then odds are they were driven into the lot and you should have no problems. It's when the description says "does not run" you have to worry. I'd still bring lots of oil, coolant, diesel fuel, and tools when it's time to truck them home. And just...
I owned 9 deuces at one time, around 2008. I said the same thing after I won about 4 of them at one time out of Chambersburg, PA. "What the heck am I thinking?" Well, either you have the money, or you HAD the credit, if you can get them home safe and sound, look them over, fix up two of them...
I owned a M1078 rollover wreck a couple years back, the gent I sold it to said he had 3-4 more various models and he was putting a couple of them together.
I figure a few dozen FMTV and LMTV vehicles, in different conditions from burned out wrecks to decent driving ones, have been sold off...
Subscribed - I will need to research this thread again when time permits, for my future s-280 shelter project! Won't be as nice as yours, but I hope to incorporate some of the ideas in mine.
Couple tips, michigandon,
I had a M890 years back, very short ownership time before the engine blew up. Anyways, I learned some things over the years about the series:
The original tires were 9.50x16.5LT. They are hard to find in this exact size anymore, and more wheels that are 16.5 inches...
michigandon, the junkyards across America are FILLED with 70s Dodge trucks, that use the same front bumper. Shouldn't be any problem finding an original style MOPAR one in good shape.
Geat plans for the build, keep us updated!
