OK, a next thing I would never consider/expect since it is so far outside European concept of thinking and of holidays. On an outing like this, people really take loaded firearms with them? I would expect a range of replica guns connected with the MVs, but...
You are right about the general 2,6 meter width. I saw a website that mentioned the width on special highways was lower and a HET would need a permit for it; cannot find the site back. Probably I misread smething.
Here is a link to the dimensions of commercial vehicles on the road, interesting
Probably not going to happen because even when bobbed you presumable still would need a permit to drive it on highways because its more than 8'2" wide? Besides, its already looking crazy, so why bother. It would be like buying a Ming-dynasty vase and paint gratify on it or buying a mint Bugatti...
Conmfort creature
I started to look per orders of Clinto to previous rally media threads and also following the stuff about this year. I think my first ideas about how this would go were a weee bit off-side.
My only experience with MV meetings are a very limited and all as an outsider...
Ron, I was getting there but you beat me to it. Great idea.
I don't have my Rand Mcnally here, but with one driver, about 2,400 miles at an average of 45 MPH for 10 hours/day is 6 days. Two drivers would make it a bit quicker. How to get back to the GA Rally in time or do it afterwards?
I think PB should be barred from campaigning; he's too darned good at it and besides, he has the goods and dirties on too many people and MVs. Then again, what can you expect from a GA mafia Imperial 1SG; just doing his job leaning on people.
Is there a way on the forum to share pics but stop people from copying/downloading the images?
In the same way, if you post pics in the albums, can people make external links directly to those pics? Better, can you stop those links?
Situation is I came across some pretty amazing pics I would...
cr@p on this time difference; I am out of sync on the discussions. I am volunteering to take care of collecting the pics and video stuff. Gives me a reason to hang out at the HQ/RT and I hate sitting around doing nothing.
Even better, provided that people take the time to drop their copies off. since this will be my first attendance, no idea how often people run along the registration area. We probably should combine ideas here to make sure that we get everything in one place.
Anybody of the JanKees' need a driver or co-driver to get a vehicle down to the GA rally? I would like to be in D-Town Tuesday already, but would love to spend some days on the road getting there; the farther the better. No problem driving alone; I am used to it and love it.

High quality jpg pics take about 3 Mb, raw format about 6 mb. Looking at my collection, 100 GB would almost certainly be enough for whatever we shoot together in pics and video. Laptops should have enough room but tablets and most simple flash drives not.
Quick calculation: you would need 20...
I have an old DCR-HC85E using mini-DVs in avi and a newer Sony SR10 with hard drive shooting in mts. With PP CS6, I can copy from the SR10 and capture into PP from the Sony 85E. The only problem sometimes is with this specific Sony mts format; you have to watch your project settings to make...
OK, lets be a clear on this.
Unless finalizing last year's project goes horrible wrong, its 80% sure I will be attending. If nothing else, I will be flying into Atlanta on Tuesday, spend the whole time at the rally, and flying back next Monday.
I try to extend it and have some other fun as...
:ditto: Same here, I have Adobe Premiere Pro CS 6.
What about collecting/copying all raw video and digital pics during the Rally onto one hard drive, so everybody who wants it can get it copied already there? I will be bringing my laptop with PP and also a 1 TB portable hard drive.
We need lots of pics and description of how you do the switch back and forth once everything is ready. Are you going for a "static" shift that only can be done home or some kind of trick to switch the bed and the fifth wheel as it were "in the field".
I am doing the same with a dump bed - fifth...
I would have expected much more jeep-like vehicles. Jeeps, Dodge WCs and CUCVs together are 36, same as the deuces. Given the fuel consumption and other considerations, having 36 deuces and 26 5-tons at a rally is an amazing result.
