A bit of background.
After a parade a friend parked the deuce without turning off the lights. They drained the batteries and remained in the 'on' position for a couple of weeks.
The batteries are fairly new, two years old, 6TL batteries. I have the charger on them for most of the day. At...
I got the axle and the lockout put on the first deuce a couple of years ago. It was OK on flat streets, but my drive way is gravel and sloped. Admittedly, I could have locked it and driven out normally, stopped and unlocked it on pavement and driven on. But, as this gets driven mostly in...
We tend to forget these were military vehicles designed to go where civilian trucks could not.
I recall cranetruck (Bjorn) saying one time that there is a reason for a starter relay to be where it is and do what it does. The designers had a reason for both the starter relay and for the...
The intent is too limit commercial vehicles. State law would override an owner not being able to bring a MV to a legal parking place and not being able to leave or enter it.
This would not mean you could load a nearby home's debris on the truck in the street or such.
There are also probably...
No problem. I thought everyone knew John Tennis and his jatonka site.
Having been here for a few years I have come to especially admire John Tennis, aka jatonka, and Bjorn, aka cranetruck. JT because he provides some basic need items unavailable elsewhere and Bjorn because he knows everything...
These go over the shift lever and transfer case lever. They keep the heat and dust out in Texas. In the land of the Yankees they keep heat in the cab. I have them on the second deuce and it makes a lot of difference in parades here in the Summer.

Nice neat and clean. The AVM hubs are extremely well built. I have had two on the first deuce for a couple of years, maybe more. Never a problem.
I also ordered the shifter and transfer lever boot kits. They will take longer to install. :)
Took maybe twenty minutes for both sides. Got them from jatonka today around 11:30 and took some pics shortly after coming home and putting them on.
Not enough grease on the hands to make a big difference, gaskets were included with them, and remove the bolts, assemble to the axles and...
I just saw this thread. I have lockouts on the front of one of the deuces, more coming from jatonka for the other, and had a dual splined axle and lockout hub on the front rear axle. Riding down a paved street is ok with the front rear axle disengaged. Starting up a hill, moving across dirt...
Glad hands, the standard version, are available at truck stops. Color does not matter. You are just using it as an inflator and should hook it to the emergency connection for full pressure. If you were pulling a trailer the colors would make a big difference in your comfort level!
An...
I got a GovLiq surplus 24 volt impact wrench from V V A 020 in Denton for tire stuff on the road. Never used it, but I always have it ready. They had some more for sale not long ago if anyone wants one.
While at the UNT Homecoming Parade a week or so ago, I noticed a flat on the first deuce. No telling how long it was deflated.
I asked Jimmy McElrod from V V A 920 to use his glad hand air package. He generously loaned it to me. The one I had in the truck had a connect incompatible with the...
The vent line from the top of the MC goes to a T connection on the frame. I removed the vent line and took the fitting to the Ace Hardware to purchase a square plug with a similar taper. Cost about a dollar, as I recall.
As for putting in a heater, my second deuce has a heater from a M151...
