I did not bother with a swivel. Just got some brass parts from the local hardware and hooked it up. I put the reservoir on the firewall, however. Easy service and more room.
The UNT Homecoming Parade is this Saturday in Denton. You should plan to be at the UNT parking lots on Welch Street at Highland and Maple streets between 11:30 and noon for line-up. The parade begins at 1:00 pm.
Anyone in the area is invited to join Vietnam Vets 920 in the line up...
I used to work on Ford Model A cars. Working on the deuce is only slightly more complex.
I also work for a lot of people who do not like lawyers until they need one.
Just different ways of achieving and end.
OK, I went to law school, not mechanical school. Watching the leak, checking the TM's and contemplating the problem, I realized I had not tightened the fuel lines. I did. It takes a 7/16 inch open end wrench.
Problem solved.
The first thing I learned about the deuce from cranetruck, and...
I noticed a very small amount of diesel around the number two injector yesterday.
Just a few drops of diesel that has kind of shined the outside of the injector.
Is there a fix or just replace the entire injector?
I put the jatonka filters on the moment they were offered. The primary fuel filter adapter took about five minutes to install and works great. I did not go with a system replacement on that because it was simply more work to do the same job. Simple enough it seemed.
Using diesel fuel...
The engine was rebuilt in 1991 at Toule. I have never changed the head gaskets on this truck.
It will be resurfaced and the valves checked and fixed if need be before reassembly.
I am putting new head gaskets on next week. I got the entire engine gasket set from OD Iron just in case we find other items that need work.
So, an old time mechanic tells me that it would be a good idea to replace the head studs and nuts. He says this is common in rebuilding diesel motors...
I started to do just that. But, then I figured maybe there is more to be done and I may as well do it all if I have to. But, those are the gaskets to use, I am told.
I have decided to replace the head gaskets on the deuce and I have been looking about for a gasket kit.
I want the 'new style' head gaskets, I think. Anyone with experience chime in on that issue.
I looked at OD Iron's website, found gasket kits and the price seemed right.
The description...
There is antifreeze in the oil. Not a great amount. My guess is a blown head gasket?
And, I should have added, I was running the motor checking out fluid levels and such when I removed the radiator cap I noticed it was kind of puffing out a mist. That is when I decided to add fluid. The...
I noticed the deuce was low on coolant. Six two pound coffee cans of water later it was filled till I could see it in the filler neck.
While still cold I could see leakage around the radiator cap. I unscrewed the cap and water gushed out.
Is (a) this normal, or (b) indicative of a blown head...
