Sorry if you thought I meant removing the rust from the tank. My tanks, as this one were not particularly rusted. One had gunk, not quite as much as this but close enough. The filter system on both of mine suffered from rusty filter cans which the spin on filters took immediate care of and...
800summit is right. That stuff is organic crap. A good algaecide treatment each fill up will get rid of it.
My fuel system had that stuff along with some amount rust until I switched to the spin on primary and secondary fuel filters. It is much cleaner now and I suspect after some more...
I agree. And the lack of tops means a lack of interest to some degree.
With the number without tops, I suspect the guard took them for the five tons before turning them in.
They are all six cylinder multi-fuel. Look for fluid on the back sides of the wheels. This usually means seals or break cylinder leaks. Check all fluids. Check the brakes if possible. Look for damage all around.
Sometimes this is a crap shoot. Sometimes not. If you can get loose to go, do so. If you have not owned a deuce before, you may not know what to look for when you go.
If you win, I can get a trailer and truck to do the recovery, I think. You need to talk to Jimmy with V V A 920 about a top...
I got some eight point sockets off eBay to work on that plug. They work fine if the plug is not buggered up.
On my second deuce I was forced to remove the vent tube to lubricate it because the plug did not want to break loose at all.
I finished the third rebuild today. I got a paper gasket cutter off eBay and paper from O'Reilly's to make the end plate gasket. Took four times but it works well when you learn how.
I have now done three air packs. Easy when you have done it a couple of times.
The only problem with the eBay...
The gasket cutter, two knives on a center spike worked well. It was about $18 on eBay. I used paper material from O'Reilly's at about $4.
The manufacturer recommended using a wood brace, I used a 3/8 ratchet with an eight point socket.
It took four times, but I finally turned out a perfect...
I have found that putting a paper towel around the base of the spin on oil filter will eliminate most of the clean up. They leak a bit when being removed. Not much but some.
I have been using them for two years and really think they are great.
That is good news. I am not sure how many miles mine have. But, in November they all get replaced and the oil changed.
I think anything we do to preserve the motors is going to lead to longer life. I do not consider filters and oil to be expensive compared to a rebuild.
Keep us posted.
I was new to this a couple of years ago myself. Then, thankfully, I discovered cranetruck, the leading expert on electrical problems, and John Tennis, jatonka the spiin on filter king.
My trucks run better and are much easier to trouble shoot as a result. cranetruck has been especially...
I updated my install because some of these modification cause problems only after some use.
The spin on oil filters are something I would bet on in Las Vegas now.
The primary fuel filter eliminated the two rusty cans I had and for a year the first has worked fine without a problem.
The...
The plugs on the brake light switch changed with the upgrade. On the older version it is one round plug. On the up grade it is the familiar two sockets, side by side.
The M35 and M211 used the same winch. Go to Alpha Heaven for winch mounts, $50 for the pair.
They are easily installed.
Finding the PTO, drive shafts, pillow bearing, sliding yokes and such are a tough job. We will be competitors.;-)
The stop and turn signals are separate circuits. For the turn signals, the first thing to do is see if the light on the turn signal controller is lit. If it is, you have a ground there. Then check and clean the grounds on the turn signals and flasher. If you have grounds working on all the...
