This might be as good a time as ever to install a remote brake fluid reservoir. I checked my BFS level on both trucks yesterday by opening the engine side panels and looking inside. Both were just fine. That took about two minutes.
Check this thread...
OK, I am a big fan of the jatonka spiin on filters. I mean a big fan.
I put on the primary fuel spin on filter last year, using the Wix 33405/NAPA3405 filters.
Checking for water has been a PITA for me. The plastic plug in the bottom seemed difficulty prone. I always removed it, got covered...
My final post in this thread, I think. With all the rain and flu I had not plugged the vent system at the frame. I took the vent line loose and went to ACE Hardware. They gave me something called a double inverted plug for the vent fitting. It has a bottom that resembles that of the original...
You have to remove the Pitman arm on the side of the box connected to the drag link.
You also have to remove the steering gear cover and remove the lever shaft from the assembly. This then frees the steering shaft to be pulled out.
You can see the diagram in Fig. 115 in TM 9-2320-361P.
The...
I did not remove anything. I left well enough alone.
The parts are:
#3557--mounting bracket--$8.99
#3577--clamp--$1.99
#3558--tank medium--$7.99
#3575--BFS hose, sold by the foot, you need at least four feet, I ordered five. $2.99 per foot.
#3564--reservoir cap--$5.99
#3559--medium and...
I just finished my second install. The only change is I routed the hose lower to rest on the frame. No need for the rubber cover, I think.
Total time, about 45 minutes.
Easy, quick and now checking the BFS is soooooo easy!:-D
Here is how I got around the rubbing of the brake fluid hose. The hose is a 5/16 inside diameter brake fluid hose. It has an outside diameter of approximately 1/2 inch.
To insulate it in the area most likely to rub, I took 1/2 inch rubber hose, cut one time the length of the hose, about six...
I had considered that possibility. But, it was quicker to install, I did put the 1/2 inch rubber hose on the spot I considered most like to rub and leak. I will post a pic if it ever stops raining here.
My thinking is this is just a vented remote reservoir which I will be able to check each...
A simple solution would be to disconnect the current breather, cap the line from the current breather line and use some copper tubing and hardware store brass fittings to create another breather tube for the MC.
If you choose the remote reservoir approach, the Tiltson reservoir set up I used...
I completed the install today with the brake fluid hose in place. It is a 5/16 hose about four feet long. I ran it from the remote reservoir to the MC. It was a kind of strange fit going under the cab, sharp metal angles and other wiring and such. I got concerned about the possibility of...
Look in the thread about the remote brake fluid reservoir for the article. I had not realized the problem in this thread existed, until I read the article.
The article recommends the lines be separated.
What I am doing is capping the T connector to the MC. The breathing of the MC will be...
The Accura conversion was really neat. However, I do not have much skill with electrical stuff, other than following cranetruck's advice, and fabricating a mount is more than I want to undertake, particularly when I can get it all cheaply and simple to install.
This is a project that I keep...
