The first thing to check is whether or not the tach drive is turning. I found mine was not.
I wish I had known this because I started with the tach, working perfectly, decided it might be a bad cable and soon had a working cable out of the truck only to find the drive was broken.
Just...
It was kind of astounding. I was frustrated beyond words. I had replaced every bolt, nut and washer but one. I had run out of day light. We had a parade the next day.
While getting ready for the parade, I decided to replace the last of the 12 bolts, nuts and washers. The empty hole...
You may have to check more than just the flasher ground. I had to replace all of the bolts and washers on my second deuce light grounds. This included cleaning the base of the front turn signals replacing all four bolts and washers on each, as well as cleaning the bases of the rear tail...
My thoughts exactly. I think John Tennis has done a lot of homework on this before it was released.
But, if it works, why not? If it does not work, I believe I will pass on it.;-)
I put the ODIron coolant filter system on both of my deuces last year. I also went with the Wix 24071 filter with the SCA additives. I plan to change them each Fall.
The starter post of this thread is where I began to be concerned about the fluid systems in the deuce after several decades of...
Check your calendars and make sure you have Saturday 4 April 2009 set aside for the Gainesville , TX Medal of Honor Parade.
The parade starts at 1000 hrs.
We plan to be in place between 0830 and 0900 hrs.
If you would like to convoy up, be at Jimmy McLeod’s Entry Door, 2038 W...
I guess when I run through the current fuel in the tanks it will be time to take them to the radiator shop for a thorough cleaning to get rid of the last possible rust in the fuel system. I am 100% spin on filters now and the tank is the last place to hide rust.
I wonder if there is some kind...
My problem with the flasher turned out to be the ground on the passenger side front signal light. Check all those grounds before you give up. I replaced all of the bolts, nuts and washers on all the signal lights after cleaning the metal to assure a good ground.
NCDeuce, you would be greatly mistaken to not heed Bjorn's advice on anything electrical about the deuce.
I have (and continue to) follow his advice and knowledge about electrical problems for a couple of years now. He is the absolute authority on electrical problems.
I would get the light...
I don't think Jimmy and Steve are looking to install more of the kits. It took most of the day for the two of them. (I think they are getting too old, but don't spread that around.)
The most difficult part was the rubber grommets on the end of the air piston where it mounts to the spring...
Had I not changed to the spin on secondary and final filters from jatonka, I would change out the next time with that #3540 filter. It appears to flow the same and with the increased filtering much cleaner fuel can be expected. Good tip for everyone still using the original filter cans.
Will is right about gaskets. Pick up a couple of #5070 gaskets from NAPA for the secondary and final fuel filters and a #5131 for the primary. NAPA #3511 is the primary filter and #3512 for the secondary and final filter.
An easy way is to order from odiron, as they have the filters and...
I believe PM work is a proper use of the MV license. For instance, we drive in parades. OK. We take the deuce in for repairs I cannot or do not want to do. OK. We exhibit at the local library. OK. Why not drive the vehicle to keep the fuel fresh, check performance for malfunctions and...
