RE: Re: RE: Beginning to Think I Can Do Anything!
I would check out the wiring, from what I have learned. Tires are important also.
Good luck. Post pics of the purchase.
Don't forget, when you are stumped, this forum can usually come up with an answer.
These do not go 70 mph down the interstate. Take your time. They will tell you when you can pick it up. Usually about two weeks.
Low hours and miles do not mean much. They were rebuilt many times, count on it.
Get a nice one. You will then have to ask the stupid questions: Why don't my...
You may want to look at the M35a3 offerings. They are more 'modern.' The price may be a little steep for a while, however.
There are a lot of really nice looking M35 offerings at Smyrna. I would look for one with winch, they seem to be claiming many have a winch that do not, and a top for...
The horn is really loud. I think the problem with most of the MV horns lies with the twisting of the wire when the wheel turns. After years it kinks or shorts.
I had worked on cars in my teens and have always been fairly mechanically inclined through my life.
But, a year ago, the M35 looked fairly spooky.
Strange motor, strange wiring, strange this and strange that were daunting.
In the past week I have finished rebuilding the steering gear box...
I wanted new tie rod ends, may as well replace the entire steering while I am at it. So, naturally I called Memphis got a quote for them and the drag link repair kit. Seemed kind of high priced, I thought.
Shopped around and found Memphis the lowest cost of any. First time I can recall that...
I got it put back into the truck last evening. I replaced the bushings and steering shaft bearings. The steering arm and bearings checked out fine. Used a new seal, quick replacement, fortunately.
For anyone attempting this a couple of things should be kept in mind.
First, the steering gear...
I kind of figured this would occur.
My camera is in an ammo box on my trailer which is in the shop.
Long story made short:
I bought a couple of pallets of ammo cans at the Army Ammunition Plant at McAlester, OK. Took the trailer to pick up the cans. Stopped at the gate. No tail lights...
I have been working on fixing the steering gear. What a task.
No one has adequately covered what is involved here.
First, were I doing it over, I would recommend trying to remove the most upper rear bolt from the steering gear cover. If you cannot do that then an experience awaits...
I put the jatonka spin on filter on the primary. Works great and changes quickly. I never bother to look at what the filter has in it when changing. Afraid to I suspect.
I am not certain about that, only because I did not try it. But, you would have to pull the steering shaft to get to it. So, I am fairly certain you are right.
But, water and silt can cause major problems.
Had I known of what it took to remove all this, I could probably have done it in one...
I am rebuilding the steering gear and found water inside. Not a great deal of it but still water. It turned some of the oil and dirt into kind of a mud. The steering arm seal was hard as a rock. Replace it if you are concerned about yours.
No, but they are cheaper, perhaps, to rebuild and far more plentiful. We are in the process of rebuilding the one from miltrucks, it worked when pulled, only because I would rather deal with it now than wait until my current starter quits.
I saw these GM AC-Delco starters and wondered if...
I got a used starter for the multi-fuel motor from miltrucks. Took it to the local starter shop. The owner looked at it and suggested that a GM AC-Delco starter converted to 24 volts would be interchangeable. Any thoughts?
