    Slave Cable Install ?

Don't forget to put the grommets in the floor holes. The actual measure is 1-1/2 diameter with a groove diameter of 1-1/4. I could not find any other than at O'Reilly, where in frustration I bought a generically labeled GM PCV Valve grommet # 42061. Perfect fit! :D You will know it when...

    Slave Cable Install ?

Just buzzing about I noticed Saturn Surplus has the two pin to single pin adapters. I will get one for the glove box.

    Slave Cable Install ?

OK, I kind of thought that was the way to install it. But, why buy a lot of parts that were working when you begin because you did not ask how not to screw it up.

    Slave Cable Install ?

Got the two pin slave cables. How are they hooked up to the batteries? I could not find a TM section on them. Of course my search was limited and it is easier to ask the experts here. :D

Deuce leaking oil from base of filter

The coolant filter kit is an easy task. Be cautious to mount it to the body below the level of the top tank and with enough room to remove it when the time comes. There is a brace for the radiator that must be taken into account for servicing, although that is supposed to be at 50,000 miles...

Deuce leaking oil from base of filter

Just curious, who is builder 77 for the oil filter kit? I got the price on the kit from John Tennis. Looks like a really great job, but cost is a bit high. How much cheaper are the spin on filters compared to the stock military ones from napa? It could take a long time to pay off the conversion...

    run ins with law enforcement

I was hauling a cannon one evening in central Texas when the locals stopped me for having no light on the license plate. They spent 15 minutes getting the cannon lecture, showed me a short cut to my destination and told me to get a light one of these days.

Deuce leaking oil from base of filter

If you are running stock filters the oil will return to the crank case. There is always some oil spilling in changing filters.

    Warning Lights Question

That was where I started. Rusty and nasty. Cleaned the bolts with the Dremel. I will buy new tomorrow. Found one bad light. So far so good. I have learned , sorta how,a multimeter works and I am getting a pulse on the right and left with the flasher on both turn and warning flashing. I am...

    Warning Lights Question

I kind of think it is a wiring issue. The flasher is working. The flasher is new and so is the turn signal.

    Warning Lights Question

I have been working on the lighting system, changing out the flasher and seeking out shorts. All was working well. Then....................... A couple of days ago the right rear warning light quit flashing. Then, yesterday the left rear quit. Both bulbs appear to be OK. The front marker...

Deuce leaking oil from base of filter

I used the jatonka kit on my deuce. It works extremely well and took the same amount of time to put in as changing the original filters. I am very pleased with it. odiron makes good products, certainly, but they seem a bit more labor intensive. Not a lot, mind you, just a little more work...

Deuce leaking oil from base of filter

Take the time now to replace the filter set up with one of the spin on adapters now. The cost, initially, is a bit steep, in the area of $200 but the ease of replacing the filters makes it worthwhile. Mine work extremely well and the oil pressure comes up immediately and not in 10 to fifteen...

    Drag Link Kit from Memphis

Re: RE: Drag Link Kit from Memphis The drag link is a 30 minute repair if you have a parts cleaner. I have my son. It took a little longer. The wear on the ball sockets was easily seen. Without lube they would wear even quicker. Memphis has about 400 of the kits in stock at $38 or so. A...

    Drag Link Kit from Memphis

The alignment may be the problem. The wedges put in required loosening the u-bolts. It would appear they were not torqued properly. Now, I am getting new lock washers and a morning putting them on will most likely solve the problem.

    Drag Link Kit from Memphis

I put the $38 drag link kit from Memphis on the deuce today. The old sockets were so worn the lube grooves had disappeared. I am not sure it made a big difference in wheel wobble problems but with the steering gear rebuilt and the new tie rod ends, the steering will be virtually new. :)

    Front end wobbles.....

I came across a rather unusual circumstance, I think. The deuce wobbled after hitting bumps. I rebuilt the steering gear, it needed it. I then rebuilt the drag link, it needed it worse. The sockets were so worn the lubrication grooves were worn off. For $38 bucks from Memphis, the job is...

    Coolant Change!

The secret is patience. All you have to do is flush, fill, flush, fill etc. till you are certain the old stuff is gone. Time and patience. That is the recipe.

    Coolant Change!

What a chore. Started by draining the radiator and leaving a five gallon bucket full for two days undisturbed. When emptied it had a 1/8 inch or so of silt, for lack of a better word, on the bottom of the bucket. I am at the refill and drain stage, fifth, down to minor discoloration. I will...

Why did you buy your deuce

My son is a Vietnam reenactor. He wanted it. I bought it. I work on it. It takes me away from work, is fun to mess with and for the most part it is easy enough to repair. Today I drove it in the UNT homecoming parade. I have a lot more respect for my son now! Wow! The back end was full of...
