Any Pointers for Finding a GOOD Engine?

seems like you could take the one that you took out and rebuild it no?

    What rims are these?

Personally, I'd prefer split combat rims that bolt together. Nice because if you can fab up or obtain a bead lock insert, you can assemble them with not too much trouble.

    Front lockout light

It can't be that hard to break down the electrical parts on these is it? Open it up and check the conctacts for cleanliness and contamination.

    Tech tip of the day

Well, pulling from the air intake side and the long path should at least help prevent getting big chunks of dirt and such from the intake of the air compressor. Odd that it doesn't have an intake from the clean side of the filter though.

    Tech tip of the day

Well, I think the oil comes from the air pump which is lubed by a bit of oil from the engine. In this setup, I don't think a little oil is bad. Probably a good corrosion preventative.

    Gama Goat Safety

It's interesting that the 50s-60s saw complex designs in the West that didn't need to be so complex but were still interesting from a technical standpoint. Goats, Bjron's 8x8, Ferrets, Stalwarts, Saladins/Saracens, all have complexities and oddities that made them more difficult than what came...

    Winch Shear Pin Fabrication

It's as simple as climbing under the truck at the bumper, locating the pin, pulling the safety pins if they're still there, turning the shaft to locate the core pin and driving it out. Then you insert a new pin and set your safety pins

    drilling and counter sinking holes

Bjorn, that looks fine. Your bed doesn't have to be as clean and nice as Clinto's you know.

Front axle seals and boots stepXstep

How do the front bearings in the front wheels get serviced per the normal lube order? Does grease somehow migrate from the knuckles to the bearings or does that task fall under a separate but longer interval task than the rear axles and front boots?

    tilt/rollover point

The dynamic nature of the water in the tanks will make a fixed number difficult with a partial load. How you drive the truck in such a situation could also impact that. Cut the wheel sharply at the wrong point and you could have the water shift the truck beyond it's tipping point.

Think I have a source for feed stock

Haven't done much with it sadly. Still need to get my gear up for doing the processing.

    cable price

RE: Re: RE: cable price Take a look at Amsteel Blue synthetic winch cable. It's FAR better safety wise that if you're buying new cable, you should look at the extra expense. If I had someone here looking for wire rope I'd sell them the cable off my truck and get amsteel blue. I think it's...

2nd Fuel tank on a deuce....

Ok, I'll be able to find those easily enough. I'd initially tried to find fittings and had a very hard time finding fittings.

What are the fuel fittings for the deuce on the fuel lines? Are they inverted flare fittings?
