If you don't mind driving down to Fremont where the Tesla plant is, I highly recommend Dando's Automotive. Smaller shop than say a dealer, but I learned of them via word of mouth, in 10+ years they've never done me or an'one I've sent to them wrong. Very hard to find in this area...
I think I answered this already, but I'll add more information to help you make sense of it. This is not how automotive voltage regulators work - they expect to be the only power source in a system and are VERY simple as a result.
Here's an article on the logic that goes into them...
These have the H4 connector:
You would have to either cut the wiring on the fixture and install packard plugs, or you could build short Faston to Packard adapters so nothing gets cut.
[EDIT:] For simplicity/ease you can buy a pre-terminated H4 repair socket (like these) and just put the...
Digging up an old thread - Grote and Maxxima have thrown their hats into the LED headlight ring. About the price of Truklite's solution (and 1/2 the price of J.W. Speaker). I haven't seen any reviews of these yet, but it's interesting to see another potential option out there. [thumbzup]...
My dad runs those type tubes in his garage - they are at least twice as bright as the fluorescent bulbs ever were, and do a fantastic job turning on in the cold.
Found these on Flickr, from someone named Nick Anderson:
His story is that of the less than a slow roll... obviously. Look how much of the factory structure got compromised:
[EDIT:] This accident is also a good opportunity to see the front row cab structure at its weakest - note that where...
It's a '93, my dad was the second owner starting in 1996 with 80k on the dial. I bought it from him in 1998 (5 years old at that point) with at 96K (only used for a 15-mile weekday commute, limited extra stuff). So I put on 361,000 and change in 17 years, about an average of 21,235/year - peak...
Well life is happening, and I'm now concerned that the 457K Toyota will not pass the emissions check in October without a hefty investment in the engine/exhaust. I blew through another radiator inside of three months, gotta replace the EGR system, Catalytic converter, muffler, engine computer...
So I've secured the last of the 305's missing parts (shell end wall). In the same deal I'm working with the seller, I get two partial 103's (mostly shell+frames, missing end-walls on one and liner for both), five rapid entry vestibules, and a "spare" 305 which will go towards the bus project...
With the PLS, Oshkosh put on guides with angled "blind alignment" wings that center the load as it comes into contact with the guide. I'm sure you could put some sort of wing on the bed-box to emulate this.
From some seat-time I had in a Hook and Ladder tiller (no I'm not a Firefighter)...
This is what I am a bit concerned about on this site where one theme (skirting the off-road restriction) can smother the other topics - i.e. pre-GP release trucks that new owners have to deal with legally, or state-to-state differences that actually do require the SF-97 so you can get the...
They have this weird thing where they are headquartered and run the business, website, and call center in Pleasanton, CA - but they are a Florida licensed dealer.
But here it sounds like CHP ran the truck through NCIC and it did come back as stolen. If the OP shows up with a paid bill of sale from a dealer, worst CHP can do is impound - then it's up to the state or county to go after the dealer, with the purchaser holding the receipt acting as a material...
In CA even if you don't plan to run a road truck on-road, you need to register as an off highway vehicle. This requiress the same vin verification, titling, and tax process that an on-road vehicle does. This was my initial ammusment with the no sf-97 deal from GovPlanet - they should have known...
Please just Tim.
First thing to note for my setup is I'm supporting a working camp, not a homestead - my run times are expected to be compressed, and need to both power the loads I've planned but also charge the batteries and shorten the run-time. One of the other considerations I've...
You can run a V8 around a oval track for a season, maybe two, or you can not run it as hard in an SUV and only commute to work and it'll last 10+ years. Everything has a design life, yes it'll work, but if you can design you system "smart" your stuff will last longer.
Follow the guidance that...
I'm glad you're in good shape now. Thanks for closing the loop on this, so often on forums help is extended to someone, but no one ever tells us what happened....
Again, congrats on the fairly cheap fix to the factory wiring!!
When the Vanner is used in equalizer fashion, the alternator charges through the series string of batteries, the equalizer only has to make up the slight difference in the charge basically just powering the loads (recall than in a series string the current wants to go through the whole thing, so...
For your convenience, I've taken the TM diagram I posted in post#5, and erased everything but the stuff we care about for this problem.
You'll note there are 4 wires coming out of the alternator, a black Ground to the chassis, a thick red Positive 12V from the output terminal, and two wires...
