    Cold rivets

It is actually really easy to use a torch to cut off the heads and not gouge the frame. Heat the heads up and use just little bit of air to blow the head off. Let it cool and pound the remainder it out.

    Insurance problem!!!!!!!!!!!

Agreed. However, according to the state of SD, removing an axles is not a problem.

Transfer Case Shift Rod Seal Leak

It has been awhile since I have done this; I hope that I remember it right. I believe that I pulled the seal from the outside. I kept track of all of the seal part numbers but they are at work. Should be able to find it tomorrow.

Transfer Case Shift Rod Seal Leak

I did this a few years ago. I removed the passenger seat and floor panels to access the small cover on the top of the transfer case. There is a set screw and safety wire, which when removed, allow you to pull out the shift rod. Then use a seal puller to remove the seal. Replace the seal and...

    More random multifuel thoughts: Alcohol?

Impact of Gasohol on the L-141 and LDT-465-1C Engines.

    More random multifuel thoughts: Alcohol?

There is a study onine which examined using ethanol in the LDT; I recall the results weren't good. IMHO, using "alternative" fuels is like dumpster diving for a half-eaten donut.

    Zenith Carb Swap

I spent ~$50 to $70 each off of ebay. They are significantly improved from the simple holley and zenith. Specifically, they have better (economaster) boosters, two stage power valve, and reverse idle. Much better driveability.

    Zenith Carb Swap

You will be fine with a good paper element. You could probably even use the multifuel air filter.

    Zenith Carb Swap

The Holley economaster is easy to attach and works MUCH better than the stock carb.

    Detroit 8V92 vs. Cummins NTC-400

Found this with a quick search: 8V92: 0.345 BSFC minimum at 1700 RPM, for an efficiency of roughly 39.8%. 0.355 BSFC at rated horsepower, for an efficiency of roughly 38.7%. Series-60: 0.311 BSFC minimum at 1550 RPM, for an efficiency of roughly 44.2%. 0.315 BSFC at rated horsepower, for...

    Precise RPM control

As I'm sure you know, nicads are very prone to thermal runaway. A deuce is also a very inefficient means to charge a battery.

    M35A3 smaller steering wheel

How does this work on the M35a2 where the steering column is one piece all the way to the box?

Westfolk's Steel Oil Spin On Adapters

Still a lot of hearsay. I resepctively disagree with a number of the points outlined.

    Another HF54 conversion

Most of the major military parts houses should have them (Boyce, Memphis, etc).

    24 VDC to 12 VDC & 24 VDC to 110 AC converters/inverters Question

I was advisor for a senior design class which used : Power Bright - 24 Volt Modified Sine Wave Power Inverters which are modified sine wave. The issue is that these are modified sine wave and aren't very clean. Not sure how well it would work for your application but they are cheap.

    Another HF54 conversion

Running the numbers for the 1kpsi vs 1.5kpsi pump and the short (7.5") vs long (8.5") pitman arm shows a 1000 lb increase in force for the high pressure pump and short pitman arm. Most of that is due to the higher pressure pump.

    Another HF54 conversion

I'm not really happy with the pump assembly that I got so I don't want to send you there.

    Another HF54 conversion

The box and pitman arm was for an LN series Ford truck. I really can't speculate on year as there wasn't much left of the truck.

    Another HF54 conversion

Rick, The pump is stamped with a code indicating flow, pressure, etc. I am not sure how to raise the pump pressure to a controlled and exact 1500 psi. It would also be prudent to make sure that my existing pump is actually 1000 psi. The "new" pump that I bought was a "rebuilt" at best...
