Hey, which vendors are current with their stock of 686 Tan? Anybody know?
From what I've heard, Gillespie is the paint to go with. BTW, this would be in gallon increments for a paint sprayer NOT rattle-cans.!
Thank you!
Hey, cool beans - my wife noticed I've gotten back into modeling again, and she got me a Badger 150 airbrush and a Badger auto-shutoff compressor for my birthday! How cool is that?
Got some of the stuff I posted before almost ready for paint. I'll soon get dusting with this new airbrush...I'm...
not me!
I live 5kms from the pentagon - work 1km from dulles and udvar-hazy center....I have one SR-71 to look at in person most any day I care to, but I seriously doubt any are doing fly-bys of my local sector airspace....they got that covered with all the OTHER surveillance they ALREADY do...
Hey No2diesel - another amateur here - I found some great plastic model forums out there in internet-land. One that I like is related to the hobby magazine Fine Scale Modeler......

I try and do lots of reading...but besides this one link, there are really so...
Troops shots - part 2 of Jagdtiger thread
Here's the pics I meant to add of the soldiers I assembled for the two dioramas. The guys I put together for the Ruhr pocket scene are mostly made up of random old spare parts. I am not proud; these are full of plenty of amateur mistakes and errors/glue...
Jagdtiger, Tiger I, Tiger II, soldiers
ALCON -
Lots of activity besides model hobby stuff these days. Well, I did get a chance to take a few snaps of my projects today - just showing where they are "in process".
The tanks and the figures are in primered form, waiting for more detail work...
Funny how you stop in the middle of a project, and suddenly you start back up again - 18 years later!
Just a few "in progress" shots of the Tamiya 1:35 Jagdtiger I have resurrected from the dead. Back when I last was working on it, I had about completed the basic hull etc....and had started to...
Modeler's focus areas: scale, topic preferences?
ALCON -
what sorts of preferences do you modelers have for specific scales and topics?
me- ground warfare stuff; mobility, soldiers....1/35 scale mostly with occasional forays into aircraft modeling 1/32, 1/48, 1/72 scale.
Got Ski a real nice...
Thanks for the new commo area, Mike! My last modeler's post was a little outdated - great thing to have the new forum!
Come on in, scale modelers!
ps. Mike - can you migrate the old modeler's thread to this area for us? Thank you!!
modeler's forum
My Dragon 1/35 Tiger II is rolling along....I'm scratchbuilding details and adding extra parts right now.
I think the Dragon kits rival, and in some ways, are a little nicer than some of the Tamiya's I've done.
I notice less "flash" on the sprue and parts than some Tamiya...
I wonder how the fuel prices are going to impact the convoy?
I am going to try my best to roll in with my deuce this year, but I will only be putting in about 100 miles. Haven't gone veggie or bio yet; it is certainly a plan in the works some day.
vinyl late model 3 color cargo cover for deuce
thanks Dan, but I want a used Mil-issued 3-color NATO vinyl. Canvas sucks.
er, I mean, is not optimal.....
ALCON -
I'm looking for a good used vinyl deuce cargo cover. I have a similar cover, but it's a 14-footer made for a 5-ton cargo. 3-color late model.
Either just wanting to buy one outright, trade, beam me up to where the vinyl cargo covers grow, whatever.
Thanks, all!
VA rally 4/4/08
I'll see if I can get the deuce out for that. It sure sounds like it would be fun. Not too far out either.
Might bring a VADF trooper or two, who knows.
