What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Finally got to flushing out the left tank on Fluffy [my 818], still have to do the right side, but that can wait for another day. Before I cleaned the tank out, I looked down inside of it and the older diesel was so black that I could not see my LED flashlight when I submerged it about 1"...

    M1009 Rear Power Window

Just going off of your diagram, assuming it is for the correct year and everything. I circled where in the fuse block, it states that there should be a circuit breaker self resetting. But also just to the left of what I circled, there is that split between the two boxes marked 76,if there was...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Happens all the time in my CUCV, thats why I always drive with Windshield mounted DVR, just in case. Think thats bad, try having this happen when driving a 5-ton with no ABS, mine weighs in at just over 19,000 empty, without a cup of coffee in my hand. Be safe out there.

    M1009 Rear Power Window

Though I could not find a diagram for you, I believe that on a Civi Blazer, there is a relay in between the power window switch and the motor. If there is, then it would be a 14 gage wire from the switch feeding the relay, but the relay would have another power lead that would be larger like a...

California Title Registration Diesel Smog Law and GL loadout info for M35 Deuce 5 Ton

Just a simple update about me getting my M818 all legalized. My last post I reported that I received my Historical Plates from Sacramento, all that was missing was my title. Just got my official California Title, all that is left is my insurance (don't worry moderators, not going to make it an...

Hmmm..do you like low flying aircraft?....then here ya go!

Thank you for the correction, I wasn't 100% sure about the plane in the front. Took those pics probably 10 or so years ago. Either way, the plane is big but is dwarfed when sitting next to or in front of a C5 Galaxy.

This thread just popped up on my radar. Bill Lemon Grove - about 10 miles east of San Diego

Hmmm..do you like low flying aircraft?....then here ya go!

I remember seeing both the Galaxy and Starlifter at the Air Show here in San Diego quite a few years back, they are impressive in size. Since the air show is typically in October the Galaxy and Starlifter, if they are both there are used by many for a giant sunscreen. The wings make a great...

    B-2 Bomber - Unveiling Anniversary 11-22-1988

I like to stealth-a-zize my M1009 and my 5-ton this way they don't see me rollin'

Welcome to the 5-ton club. Cool looking truck. Glenn Mills, been all through that area many times when I lived back East, know it well

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I had the same thing just a few months back, had the alternating disco effect of warning lights from both GEN lights on the dash. Mine wound up being the left alternator and was feeding 32 volts into the right one once driving, at idle it was more like 28 volts. Replacing both at the same time...

    Bought a M818

Yes I would be guilty of pumping it more than a couple times the 1st round.:-D But after cranking it a few times with no start [this is before I realized the shut-off was closed] I would have figured the fuel I pumped in there would have cycled through the engine while cranking, I guess it...

    Bought a M818

Take it from me, do not do this: When trying to get your truck started, do not use the fuel primer pump to pump fuel into the intake, it could cause a diesel runaway situation. I found this out when trying to get my 818 started before realizing that the emergency fuel shut-off was manually...

    Need a Shipper in CA

These guys are good and they know these trucks and they are close to boot. Probably your best bet over some random tow truck.

    Bought a M818

Congrats on your purchase, I'm sure you'll be able to get her started, just requires a little TLC and a lot of patience. Mine was the same way when I got her a few months back, had no batteries and was not sure of the running condition or if it ran at all. Cleaned the filters, put some new...

    Gonna get a 5 ton

You mentioned that you have experience with the 900-series, but is that what you are settling for? The 900-series are great trucks, don't get me wrong, but there are also the 809-series trucks, like mine that may be more cost effective for you. The $$ you save in the price can afford you to...

California Title Registration Diesel Smog Law and GL loadout info for M35 Deuce 5 Ton

I see what you are saying and yes I did fill the form out correctly as I wanted to make sure that there wasn't any actions that could jeopardize the title and registration process. If anything, I provided more information that would clearly suggest that it is a truck, if not more, even the...

California Title Registration Diesel Smog Law and GL loadout info for M35 Deuce 5 Ton

Well guess what happened today? Don't worry, it is nothing bad. The DMV fairy stopped by my house and dropped of my Historical Plates for my 5-ton M818. So now I am 100% legal to drive on the roads of California. I posted the registration slip minus my personal info to show how the State...

Hmmm..do you like low flying aircraft?....then here ya go!

I dug through and found a few more pics I thought were okay. Again, these are photos, I took around town here in San Diego where we have a plethora of aircraft. Well, we have a lot of military vehicles from land, sea and both. These aircraft are typically flying low around town "on patrol" or...
