The FIX....
The last thing I did was to use seam sealer around all the edges and under the truck as well.
The last picture is of the passenger side that I touched up with some filler and sanded then primed.

The Fix...
Then the fun begins, just apply the epoxy to the panel and the section it’s to be bonded with. I did it in 3 parts the outside rocker, then the backing panel, then the piece under the floor. I used the “medium” cure time epoxy. They make a fast and slow as well.
The FIX
This is the gun and panel bond epoxy I got from a body shop supply online. The gun was about $50.00 and the epoxy was about $20.00 a tube.
You will use MORE than you think!!
Use a breather and gloves this stuff really has some fumes!!
The Fix...
After some time of thinking and fitting I found that I would need to fit 3 sections together, the outside rocker and a back panel, then a section of the floor that butts against the backside of the rocker under the floor.
***You need this piece to angel down to the rocker so your...
The FIX...
I bought a couple of the replacment rockers from a supplier, they almost all come from Taiwan and cost about $20.00. But they are not too bad. Only a few company's make them all the rest just re-name them and sell as their own.
Anyway, bottom is un-cut rocker and the top is after...
The FIX....
So i took this as a chance to do something I have wanted to try out for sometime. That is to use panel bonding rather than have them welded on.
All new cars use this technology and the epoxy is stronger than a weld PLUS it's water tight.
Also, since the trucks have a full...
I bought a M1009 with out seeing it first and upon inspection found that both rocker panels were completly rotted through. On the drivers side somebody used a licence plate and duck tape with bondo over it as a repair!! :deadhorse:
Outline without chalk
I would not recomend using chalk to outline the pattern. If you paint over it the chalk will not wipe off but show through the flat paint. Just get a copy of the pattern from the TM's and color it in. Then free hand the pattern doing the brown first then the black last for...
Painting the roof
Yep, if it's a M1008 jump in the bed and paint the roof.
For a M1009, you need a lader and shoot one side at a time. The other thing is to make sure you overlap and cover the area with "wet" coats to help blend the paint. It cuts down on streaking effect.

New dent puller
One tool that I have been wanting was a stud welder/dent puller. Well I got one and tried it for the first time today and it works GREAT!!
Here are some pictures taken by my 9 year old.
First you grind off the paint down to bare metal, then insert a copper stud into the...
Mixing?
Epitts, no sure whast your asking...my HLVP gun holds about 14oz nicely so I mix about 28oz and that gives me 2 full guns before I need to mix another batch.
On wether you want to paint half the roof then come back and paint the other side...you should have/mix enough paint to cover...
work started
After a little work, interior out and new mirrors installed. Now on to the bodywork....pulled out the BIG forklift dents in the doors. The front fenders dents have to be pulled now. I bought a new stud welder and will post pictures of the work.

Got the next project in the shop, it's a 49K mile M1008 that belongs to Ed (hmsgoodhope) here on the board.
The truck is in good mech condition and has very little rust but has had some HERD hits to the body. Forklift hits on both sides and the tailgate is mangled up pretty bad (he is looking...
Dood Panels
I re-spray the door panels with vinyl dye, it works very good.
Thanks Ben! Bring your truck back and your interior can look like this one! :grd:
