USSR,
There is an area in St Paul, MN where many Russian families settled in the early 90's. Its called Highland and its a very nice part of St Paul. Many are related families. A good friend of mine lives in this area. His name, Alex Berg. He emigrated from St Petersburg with his wife and young...
I think I will try one of those inexpensive ones. My Jeep stays on the farm and hauls water, so not a risky deal. Thanks for input.
Sorry to jack the thread-but its all about me!

On the 232 AMC-I am looking at the DUI units-but they are 300 dollars-a bit spendy. I have seen cheaper ones but dont know of anybody who has one-
Which one did you install and are you happy with it? Miles since conversion?
Pete
I have an Army CJ 5 Jeep (fire truck) with an inline 232. The ignition is from Prestolite-not vey good. I have done lots of reading and have found Davis Unified Ignition is the route I am taking to convert her to HEI. One thing to consider is the gear and how it mates to camshaft. Cheap knock...
Yes I have read-most-of the TM's on this truck. I understand torque too.
It appears some trucks have a prevention switch and others don't.
Having the transfer case vendor provide a product that allows reverse in low gear is a pretty basic requirement. If any consumer products, like pick up...
Trucks runs and shifts perfect, except when in low range. Put it in low with front end locked in. Had to back up a bit to make a sharp turn, but found while in low range, the truck would not go in reverse. It feels like something is preventing shift arm from traveling.
When I put the truck in...
I have pulled several trucks out of Sparta-all have been great except for one. Jeff L pulled and delivered the last one. He reconditioned the batteries in her and turned up the fuel. Its a great 5 ton.

I won a fluids draine A3 out of Sparta. Truck arrived and looked like it was never used. It was missing drive shafts. I went for it as a parts truck, but it looked so good, I decided to fill it and run it.
Had blown head gasket but that was about it. Sold the truck to a kid who fixed the head...
Dumb question here. When installing a front steer axel in the back, the pinion is now facing forward, as opposed to back. Will it rotate in the correct rotation off the drive shaft? Are the gears in the top and differential gears cut like a non directional spur gear or are they cut for one...
JBL recovered an A2 for me from Sparta. He told me he "turned it up" for me, then drove 200 miles to my place and reported it pulled hard on hills unlike a typical A2. I have an A0 and an A2 Wrecker, so not much to compare how it felt. I found it starts in zero degree weather. It drives way...
I had mine hauled because it would not start. Paid 500 bucks to have her trailered to my land in Lindstrom. Your not so far away which gives you more options. If it warms up a bit, maybe go for it and drive her home.
Folks at Ripley where very helpful and used truck to air mine up to move it...
You dog! I won my wrecker out of Ripley too-but paid a little over 9K. To make things fair-send me a check for about 1,500 bucks to make the prices we paid fair and even.
