I understand the general curiosity we all share about .mil equipment, but since some of it is HDT's proprietary information I consider it above and beyond (in a business sense, of course) to be willing to share it with owners. I doubt many DoD manufacturers put any effort into looking up data...
Thanks for posting the info, Hard Head. Let us know how the transaction works out for you. If it's a good experience I'm sure several members would like to keep the contact information on hand.
Getting the information off the watt transducer was going to be a pain (you can see where the data sticker is underneath the wiring and attachment plate) but if you get to the point you really need the info off of it I'll pull it and take a picture that's more useful.
Watt transducer, voltage...
Postman and simp are giving you good advice, CIH7777. Almost every paving, earthmoving, and utility contractor around here has 16-24 ton trailers like the Eager Beavers to haul medium sized equipment. Since you've got air for brakes the only thing you'd need to change over electrically ought...
You may want to check with HDT Systems. I suspect that they took ownership of Powersystems International, or at least assumed production of their products, and may have some helpful information. I haven't had any luck getting any information from them in my inquiries, however. Hopefully...
Not sure if you meant to quote me or not, tobyS. I was asking about the 923 bed weight so I could pull the 14' bed, make it a trailer deck, and mount wheels and axles under it.
TacoZilla (Or jcapple),
Having removed the 923 bed and presumably handled it a bit, what is your feel about what that thing weighs in its original form? I'm mulling over buying a 923 to partially part-out and I was wondering how heavy of a starting point it would be for a trailer deck.
That...
Did anyone ever help IROC out with his Camp Lejeune recovery? Are there any members who are still around the area and willing to pull trailers off base for more convenient pickup?
Looks like a generator trailer to me, bigblock. Those look like storage slots for bow uprights on the front sides of the trailer but the pintle ring has been lowered to a more civvy-friendly height. Much like this: http://generators.tpub.com/TM-5-6115-365-15/css/TM-5-6115-365-15_323.htm
Not a long wheelbase, but a long thread with lots of information in it: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?118984-1941-K18-C-GMC-Recovered-today
Nice truck, btw!
Don't believe all the horror stories about GP. Well, don't believe that every experience goes that way. I'm sure lots of us have had fine experiences even if you have to get on them a little about getting your documentation to you in a timely manner.
Like Floridianson said, sounds like...
Looks more like an M116-series deck, but I'd guess it's got M1101/1102 torsion-type suspension with surge brakes. My GET is slightly bigger and pulls easily behind a full-size pickup so anyone with a pintle hitch ought to be able to help.
Also, according to the VA DMV this isn't technically...
