I checked in my Mitchell on Demand, and a 1985-6 is listed as K10 Blazer. I am not sure if that will make much of a difference but it may make it easier for the Whiz Kids at the Autoparts counter to look up the vehicle.

I have an S250 and empty it is still heavy. I would guess that foam absorbs moisture over time and that the accessories that are installed are not included in the base weight. While the access panels may seem light weight I have handled them off the shelter and they are not as light as you would...
That lower rad hose replacement makes you wonder who designed the truck and that feature.
It is easier to remove and replace with the powerpack out of the vehicle as opposed to while it is in the vehicle.
Unfortunately, most of us are changing the hose when the assembly is still in the...
If you go go a 4x4 specialty shop you can probably pick up a good used set of front springs for a very reasonable price. That would be my path to simply replace them.
The front springs are reverse arched and look like they are sagging when they are actually in very workable condition. If the...
If a big ugly, cumbersome and ponderous vehcile
could be considered an
MAGNIFICENT SOLUTION
to a mobility problem,
The deuce, 5 ton and other ancient MVs are just that.
Magnificent in the balance of the durability and ease of repair.
Magnificent in that a reasonably capable GI...
I would be very concerned with the amount of weight you will be pulling with as high a center of gravity as the M101 has with a fairly narrow stance.
The body of the M1010 is about 9 feet long and at least as wide as a M1010 cab plus a little so it will be probably wider than the bed of the...
Now I can sleep at night knowing our vehicles are approved and we have a multiple paged document outlining strategies and means in which to deal with aging and deterioration.....

I am extremely surprised the "Automatic: I Surrender"
WHITE FLAG

Even so, when the heart yearns to work on your MV,

You are doing the work that was previously done by 20 year olds.......
Just looking forward to spring myself!!!!!

Before yanking the speedo cable, I would spray the inside of the cable housing with WD40, or some other lube. While it is possible your speedo is failing, I would still lube the cable as it will eliminate a potential problem in the future.
Just my two cents.

Ahh, the smells of spring (Diesel, Gear Oil, Engine Oil and grease)
and the infatuation of youth with their MVs....
It brings a tear to me' eye.

It is not as easy as bolting in a new master cylinder to make
your truck a dual circuit braking sytem.
You have to install a second airpack to utilize a dual circuit master cylinder.
Airpacks are single circuit and if I am not mistaken the M35A3 is no exception to this rule.
Brakes are...
You survived what sounds like a serious case of a death wobble.
I would say the steering stabilizer is shot and I would check the tie rod ends for play.
If the drag link from the left front knuckle has play it can lead to this.
Additionally a very loose steering gear can help create...
