I hope that IF PAPABEAR is convinced by the rest of you
and does venture into the fields of wet grass and muck
with the GOER and does happen to find himself
either stuck or broke down
(not that I am wishing that upon PB)
PLEASE, PULLEEESSEEE take video
of the recovery and
we can use...
I believe it is NOT that there will not be vehicles capable of pulling the GOER out of the muck, it is that the GOER will be back in where
no one would EVER want to take a 5Ton wrecker,
in their right mind of course.....
(I will not venture into this area...)
Then again, it could become a...
The damper does serve to prevent impacts on one side from adversely affecting the other tie rod ends and kingpins or ball joints. While you may consider that it masks a problem, it is essential in controlling and dampening vibrations and the like in the steering system.
I would point out also...
Visually inspect the hoses for cracks in the outer covering, dry or brittle rubber material, and for any indication that the ends are starting to come apart; that is the metal ends are starting to loosen from the outer protective coating. If any question exists in your mind that these hoses are...
Sounds like you have a plan. That is good.
There is a possibility that you can retorque your heads and that might
be the answer to the weeping of coolant.
The base gaskets on the cannisters are touchy and you have to have the right ones,
and not all filters come with the correct fiber...
Check your hose clamps....They may need to be tightened. That is not something one often checks when servicing a deuce and the lower rad hose is a pain in the rear to get at.

You can download the tm for the M101 and it should have the information you are looking for and also any repair or maintenance information you need.
WWW.JATONKAM35S.com in the M101 M105 TM section

If you have coolant in your oil, you will know when you look at the dipstick. Instead of the clear golden color to black depending on the time since the last oil change you will have a milky white goo that just looks wrong. If you have left an oil drain pan with a little bit of oil in it out...
Oh, it is in the crankcase...The oil can get literally foamy with the coolant mixed in, and if not dealt with immediately, can lead to bearing failures and a probable fatal conclusion for the engine assembly.....

I need to add to my previous post regarding the tires you indicated you are considering for your CUCV. Sorry for the double posts on the same aspect of the thread, in advance....
I just did some checking and found the follow excerpt on a forum for 4x4's regarding upsizing tires on rims on...
Great looking truck!!!! It is nice to carry your camper on the back of the deuce and have a real bed to sleep in at night, instead of a cot, or worse yet (for my back anyways)
the gorund!
I went a slightly different route with an S280 shelter on the back of mine. You get a little more space...
I had a set of 285s on some aluminum rims and they were 8" wide. I now have steel wheels and they appear to be 8" and I would mount the 285s on them if that were the size tire I was using.
For where I live, the narrower 235R85s work better on the snowy roads in getting to the base under the...
The flexible rubber brake line arcs to the rear of the centerline of the axle and is directly over the wet spot on the tire. This has been mentioned previously in this thread.
If you value your truck, your life and the lives and property of others, check this out pronto!
Your master should...
TMs (Technical Manuals) are the path to learning how to change wheel cylinders and also for packing the bearings while you have the drum off. I would suggest you adjust the brakes all the way around as well, but that is optional on your part.
You can download TMs for the M35A2 and A3 deuces...
It is really great you are helping by offering help to those who want to get their ticket.
W2WHT amateur extra VE and God knows whatelse emcomm, Nims etc with more radios that MVs and working to level the balance.
If I were closer I would be happy to help but its just to far to travel...
I just observed that www.Jatonkam35s.com has all the 5 ton manuals up for
M54 series, M809 series, M939 Series
and also the M915 series...
Thought it would be of help.

We all have had one of those moments where afterwards we sat back and said PHEW!!!!!
Glad you got it out and in the process shared your experience and solution.

I think there are probably more connectors and parts that require
"SKINNED KNUCKLE JUICE"
to properly loosen or tighten than we would care to admit.
Then you have to clean the excess off afterwards.....
Seems like every time I am working under my truck, it is skinned knuckle time.
