    Dump Conversion

I changed the title of this thread, since I am posting all my pics and info on my dump conversion. First couple of posts deal with angle of bed, and then install. What angle of lift would you recommend for a dump bed? I have the hinge installed, trying to figure out where to put the lift...

    Surprise!

Went to fill up the deuce today, and noticed the gas gauge was lower then what I remembered. Measured the fuel level, and I was missing 3 inches of fuel! I also noticed the chain to the cap was broke. Looks like someone stole some fuel from me... Now for the fun part! What they got was 75%...

How much oil can you burn?

I am running used motor oil in my deuce, and was wondering what percentage you can use. I am using 50% at the moment. Got 8 gallons of old gasoline I am running thru at the moment. I filter everything before going in the tank. At 3.40 a gallon, I am trying everyway possible to cut the...

    A3 questions

What transmission does the M35A3 use? I was wondering how they keep the road speed up with the slower rpm motor's. Anyone know how they set up the winch? I think it is hydrualic, but where do they install the pump and controls?

    Wheel bearing torque?

I searched the forum, and through my manuels, but can't find the settings for wheel bearings. How far do you tighten the spindle nut, or what torque? Or is it set the same as a car, tighten, the back off a 1/8 of a turn? Dennis

    Wheel cylinder part #?

I tried to search for the napa #, but can't seem to find it. Anyone know the napa part number for the whole wheel cylinder? I have #45 kit for a rebuild. Dennis

    Desplined hubs?

I bought an extra set of front hubs. Cut the splines out and buffed with a flap wheel. Has anyone had a problem with wear on the hub or axle stub when using desplined hubs? Was wondering if I should put a bronze bushing and grease zerk in the desplined hubs. Thanks, Dennis

    Another Deuce hitch

I had an old hitch someone gave me, but it was too wide for the deuce frame. I took an angle grinder and ground the welds where the hangers mounted to the square tube. Once I hammered the welds loose I was able to slide the hangers to the right width for the deuce frame. I then found out the...

    Another set of deuce ramps

Went to the junkyard and cut out up a medium duty truck frame. 7 X 3 X 1/4 inch channel, 12 foot long. Price was right, free! One of the old time junk yards you can still wrench yourself. About 2-3 hours to cut out the frame, and clean out all the crossmembers. About an hour to trim to...

    Fair price for a dropside?

I can get a dropside for 500.00, is this a good price? Very nice shape, with seats. Also, if I do get this, I will have a regular bed for sale, with seats. Small rust hole on side, paint is peeling on the tailgate and bumper. Dennis

    LDS vs LDT

Is it worth my time to replace my LDT-1D with a LDS? I have a turned up pump with egt gauge on my truck now, and it runs good. 95% of the time my truck is empty. I was looking at a parts deuce, and surprise, it has a LDS in it. Some parts off the engine, air compresser, intake piping, maybe...

    Deuces with Cummins?

I was talking to my uncle, he was in a army maintence company in the early 80's, over in Germany. Said they ran out of engines for the deuces. Had a large pile of 5-ton motors and was told to "make them fit" in the deuces. Way he was talking, sounded like they used the cummings? Might have...

    replace winch clevis?

When I got my deuce, it had a cable on the winch, but no end on it, just a bare cable. I have the clevis that goes on the end of the cable, I cut it off another winch. When I took the clevis apart, I found a brass plug that the cable wraps around, but can't seem to figure out a way to get the...

    Got my first deuce today....

Went to london, ohio, and bought a deuce from Roger. I orginally went there yesterday to look at a tool of his, and ended up buying a truck. Drove it home today, was putting out some black smoke for about 25 miles, and then the turbo kicked in and away we went! About 100 mile drive, and not...

    2.5 vs 5 ton

I am supposed to go look at some deuces over the weekend, some are 2.5 and some are 5 ton trucks. If the money is not that different, any reason to get a 2.5 when I can get a 5 ton? Thanks Dennis

Newbie here... I may have a deuce soon...

If I remember right, you can't sell a deuce out of country. I am hoping it is true... I bidded on a deuce on ebay, and was outbidded by a guy from italy! The seller says I most likely won, he doesn't expect to ship a truck to italy. Here is a link to the auction, not sure if I can post it...
