Years ago I did this because of the weeps . I replaced all the core pugs while it was down , hoses , clamps , starter relay . Not one issue with new style gaskets . Positively check the heads to be sure they are flat . Somewhere , I think I still have the tool to torque the bolts . I lend it you...
I have added the resistor from another sender to the needed sender many times . Building Hot Rods . It’s rather easy , just have to match sender and gauge ohms to read correctly . As is try to locate a sender for 37 Chevrolet to use 2 5/8 gauges from a C70 , really was a super easy fix . PM me...
The AMP meter is toast as mentioned , the firewall plug is more than likely crusty also they are not in the best location . Remove it clean the connector , look closely at the main power connections ( Amp Meter ) in and out , 90 percent change they are cooked also . Remove these terminal ...
Switch it to later NP435 and 205 , 208 or 241HD , all are good . 205 is all gears , 241 is the lowest ratio . I switched mine to 4BT and NV4500 , it took me 5 years to locate all the parts to swap it over . The diesel had to have OD or only drive 55 MPH . I’ll contact a few Buds and see what...
That’s a fabed bracket , the bracket shown by Bob is the best steering bracket you can get , there is a later one that is junk . The early one posted uses the reverse rotation box and will make the later trucks feel as if the steering was junk after a swap to early stuff .
NP 435 has 2 output shaft lengths , one for a 203 case and one for the 205 , 208 , 241 . All are 23 spline . Do not loose the coupler between the trans output and case input , they are no longer available and are reaching untouchable costs to purchase . I recently sold a complete change over for...
Sorry for the delay , I just flipped the caster shims that are on your axle now . I also added power steering at same time as changing wheels . So no answer if it was better before or after shim swap . I do know it was **** better after Tire and steering swap ! Thanks again , sorry for the delay...
I did mine years ago. Wheels from Freightliner , 6 Lug 8x22.5 . 22.5 tires are a dime a dozen . tubeless also. just have to change caster shims so it will drive straight with radials.
Flame Heater
Disconnect the flame heater outlet going to the intake with the engine running . It will be flowing a large stream of fuel if it is leaking through . If no fuel that is not the issue . I purchased a new one from Memphis it leaked through just as bad as a old one , Memphis send a...
4BT Turbo
I can't remember what turbo I have . It has only Cummins reman numbers on it . It was off a 12 valve . Early 6BT, I am thinking a 1992 . It works great . I changed fuel pin , turned up star wheel and and did not turn up the full fuel screw . No injector mods at all . I am getting 26...
HX35 turbo
I ran the big turbo for a bit on my 4Bt . Ended up with a 30 series turbo . HX35 took to long to spool up and didn't seem to make anymore power on the top end than the 30 is now . Look at 4bt stuff on Flee Bay there are a lot of parts and complete motors for sale in Cleves , Oh. I...
Not related to your issues , my 4bt in a Dodge is getting 26 MPG the 318 gas got 9 MPG . Hey Gimp , back not much better , just holding my own. Good ole Duke Energy , breakin it off in me ! Stole about 200K in retirement funds after 35 years of employment !
4 bt Flywheel
I have the 4Bt installed in my Power Wagon now !! Not sure if you tried , but I am thinking GM uses 2 different length Throw Out Bearings , maybe need to use the longer one of the 2 . Also did you use the 4BT GM flywheel ? They are super thick I am thinking also 2x as thick as...
installing a 4bt into a 79 Dodge Power Wagon , weight is near 750Lbs . it should be fine with 4 inch lift springs. I used 6 bt 1st gen springs in mine. There pre made kits to install 4 bt into Gm trucks . Oil Pan clearance is the big issue that I see .
