The color codes are standard FS-595b codes. They apply regardless of the brand. Green is 34094, brown is 30051, black is 37030 and desert tan is 33446. If you're shooting the four color camo, the earth-tone will be whatever matches your local color (dirt) the closest.
CARC is pretty close to...
I may have to end up doing the same thing. All the limit switches are; 24 volt only, specific just to the HEMTT Material Handling Crane, not listed in any Grove parts breakdown.
Seems Grove built them on contract for the military and just to fit the HEMTTs.
I don't like running anything...
Kenny,
Buddy up to your local welding shop. We scrap our cables if the insulation gets nicked or cut down to the copper. Still a lot of usable cable there.
You may have to settle for 2/0 though.
2/0 if you can get it through the watertight bushings. Welding cable is better by far than regular multi-strand. More flexible and will carry more amps.
Here's a thought;
How about getting some extra receptacles and putting one on the opposite side and maybe one on each end? True, it's not...
Jon,
Driving or not, baby HEMTT guided tours are available.
Heck, we may even drag you through my excuse for a work shed. Stuart and FoxGirl have been there and say I have the best collection of busted claw hammers, dull screwdrivers and worn out hacksaw blades they've ever seen.
And my...
Work is always slow when winter hits. No garage, working out on the driveway and running in between the rain drops... especially tricky with power tools.
Been inside making up wiring harnesses. I'm using all black, mil. spec. wire with metal circuit number tags. Everything outside the cab and...
ichudov, I'm assuming you mean two pins side-by-side but slightly lower than the center line of the plug/socket. The NATO socket has one pin in the center, the outer shell is the other contact.
Are you looking for the plug (cable end) or the receptical (attached to the side of the truck)?
PM...
The problem isn't finding 24volts vs. finding compressed air. The problem is finding either in some of the places deuces can get themselves into. If nobody's out four-wheeling in their eighteen-wheeler that day, batteries are a lot easier to pack in than an air compressor.
True, some jeepers...
If you've got a really tight air system and / or use the truck regularly, then an air starter might be a consideration. The conversion will be an either / or situation so you can't go ahead and press the startrer button if the air starter doesn't do it's job. You'll need a high volume air valve...
If you have any access to another tracked vehicle, use it.
Even a rented Cat from a yard or construction site would be better than a rubber-tired vehicle.
Far lower geared (to get the load moving), and a whole lot more ground contact area (for traction or to keep from sinking or digging in)...
You might check with Chuck at Surplus City in Oroville, California 1-800-353-3772 www.surplusjeep.com
Be sure you talk to him, some of the counter guys aren't into the older stuff like he is.

Definately no to buying and using your own railcar. Even if you found one with a current air date and everything in good mechanical condition; the railroad(s) will charge you ($150.00 on the UP) every time they couple to or uncouple from your car. YOU are responsible for loading and securing...
Problem too is that some counterfeiters are as good at copying the markings and packaging as they are at duplicating the "look" of the original.
Big problem that came to light a while back was sub-standard parts and fasteners (nuts and bolts) that were supposedly certified airworthy.
Bad enough...
This is for the M939s but it should get you in the ball park;

Rick,
Out here CalTrans issues trip permits for overweight or oversize loads. They even specify the route you're to take so that you don't wipe out an overpass or crush a bridge enroute.
A CDL is still required.
Most heavy duty trailers carry lots of weight by spreading the load over many, many tires. Not sure how much weight a trailer with singles would be good for.
Found out the hard way that some of the military trailers are too wide to operate on a civilian trip permit.
You can narrow a HET by taking off the outside duals but the M1000 trailers for instance are just too wide overall.
