    vacuum and boost gauge

If you have a hand-operated vacuum tester (like you'd use to check vacuum advance modules on gasser distributors or smog EGR valves) you could test the air filter restriction indicator on the air filter housing of diesels. Once you know what vacuum it takes to trip them, you'd know how much good...

Need to find this boarding ladder!!

If you're still hunting, check with Austin Aviation (beltfed34 on ebay). I just did a search for boarding ladder on his store page and he has several different styles.

    Carc question

The one-part CARC is moisture-activated. Is that what ytou mean by water-based? The instructions say to use a .070" tip. And to keep the paint well mixed to keep the solids suspended. Those solids, in addition to the way it's applied, are what gives the rouigh texture. Don't stir the paint in...

    Hex Head Plugs

Hex openings accept Allen wrenches and have pretty tight tolerances. The square holes accept ratchet wrenches and with them, there's a tendency to pull off-center and wallow out the hole.

Need help troble shooting the air over hydrolic breaks

Depending on age and use of your deuce, you may also have a broken return spring in the master or it's check valve may have some junk in it. Same with the booster which kinda acts like a secondary master cylinder. Generally brakes are bled from the furthest wheel back to the master cylinder...

    repowering the 880 Dodge

If your buddy sticks with a first or second gen 12 valve, it'll be a snap. I dropped an early 6BT into a Ramcharger and it fit like a glove. Used the axles and springs out of the donor truck and everything was literally a bolt-in operation. Even the motor mounts were the same. The Ramcharger...

    LED interior lighting?

I picked up one of these dimmers on ebay. Mine works like a charm. You'll run your GPS and cell phones off their car chargers or adapters. That way the unit gets the voltage it wants.

    Deuce "stack" behind cab..?

If you like the stack then relocate to your heart's content. Another option is the low exhaust set-up that runs out the passengeer side, back between the duals. On it you may have to fab some of the pipe sections-- not sure what's still available.

318 acting like it's not getting enough fuel

If it has an inline fuel filter (one of those little universal application ones), change it out. I found out the paper elements inside fuel filters will trap water and once the paper gets saturated it won't allow fuel to go through. lacoda56 is right about taking a look at the ECU. Another...

    Starter switch upgrade

Key switches are a good idea and several vehicles had them. M-880s and CUCVs for instance. True about not being 100% authentic in a deuce or five-ton; but they can always be installed out of sight if it's a big concern. 98% ORIGINAL IS BETTER THAN 100% GONE.

    Starter switch upgrade

I've had good luck with these. They're off-run-start. Forklift parts outfits call them "lever switches".

    My M977 HEMTT...

This one must have fallen through the cracks. Last time I talked to the Oshkosh RESET guys, they were taking everything for their rebuild program. Trucks too far gone to be put back in service were being stripped for any and all usable parts.

    How to paint camo?

Engineer233's illustration shows you what colors go where. #1 is green, #2 is the earth tone most prevelant in the theatre of operation (your neck of the woods), #3 is black. There's a lot of reading in the manual he posted but it'll tell you everything you need to know-- lettering, special...

Spotted a cannon? while getting gas for my bobbed deuce

I'd bet you could get a sunburn just standing close to it. FEDS: "We aren't asking if you stole it; we're asking why you didn't report it".

    fail-proofing full hydro steering

JG, you're probably right on the set-up. These were thrown together out of then available parts when guys were exploring rear steer set-ups too... usually with nothing more than a push-pull lever to control that. Then after you cobbled your rock crawler together; you drove, not trailered, to...

    fail-proofing full hydro steering

One thing you'd need for sure is a proportioning valve (ROAD-OFF ROAD?) for control. In my experience; the same thing that makes full hydraulic great for rock crawling (super responsive) makes it miserable for highway driving. And it only gets worse when there's play in the steering wheel. By...

Work on the baby HEMTT grinds to a start.

Which truck would that be? My baby HEMTT, or the 6X6 prototype in Earne's post?

    Any Pics/Info of a 5.9 Cummins install?

FMJ put up some pictures of a Cummins in a Deuce. Might look up his post. All the Cummins 5.9s out of UPS and FedEx trucks, armored cars and school buses have the SAE set-up which will get you started in the right direction (although most are attached to Allison automatics). Get one of those...
