We use full dimension 4X6s long enough to bridge the rear duals, laid on the 6" side. The top 6" face has the edges 45ed to give a 2" wide surface; with a chain or rope to remove them.
The trick is "setting" the chock(s). After the chocks are placed we let the truck roll against them. That way...
All of the above-- you won't stop them from stealing but you can make it hard enough so that they'll look for an easier target. Then your only problem is them busting windows and gauges out of spite.
For 5 tons and up with full air, spring brakes are nice. Without air pressure to release the...
There was an outfit that was making fiberglass hard-tops and tilt front ends for deuces a few years ago to turn the trucks out as farm trucks or water sprinkler trucks for construction companies.
Looks like thier handiwork.
It's true that any compression ignition (diesel) engine will run on almost anything oily and flammable... just not necessarily run well.
The fuel density compensator is there to make minor IP adjustments for the different fuels so that power output stays fairly close to #2 diesel-- the fuel of...
Wreckerman is right; however most of the multi-fuelers I've run across already have the FDC blocked off so they're straight diesel anyway.
I'll admit I've never done the math but it would seem logical that an engine that puts out more HP and more torque would in effect be loafing to get the...
Read up on re-timing the pump, the specs should be in the engine rebuilding TM.
Diesel's are known for large improvements on very little modifications.
I was surprised to learn that the same 4,000 hp prime mover (Detroit 20V710) out of a locomotive can be tweaked to give out around three times...
dumb newbie?!?... heck we all were, once upon a time. Welcome to the site.
The 5.9 is a great choice and once you stop thinking 'Dodge/Cummins' you'll find a whole world of other accessories for them; direct bolt-on Bendix air compressor with power steering pump, SAE bell housings that allow...
That's Memphis Equipment... complete trucks as well as parts.
You may find that most of the civilian "D"-handled spades are an inch or two too long for the pioneer kit tool holder. You can pop out the handle rivets and shorten it there or look for an original from Ames.
Everything else is...
I prefer the tachygraph; mine has speedo, tach and clock all in the same face-- no hunting around the dash for information.
Keys are available from any speedometer shop or the mfr. They're universal, same key fits all of that brand. Sangamo or ARGO are the most common and easiest to get serviced...
Thanks Jim,
Glad I can inspire.
I often think my only purpose in life is to serve as an example to others.
As for your boys... at least yours don't make you walk backwards whenever you go somewhere. (That's so they can claim they were just passing you in the hall, not that you were together).
Bjorn,
I fold the bracket to it's 90 degree shape first then come back with my dimpling die.
If I ground in the top and bottom dies the crease would get ironed out but I haven't bothered since the fold is so much stronger with the dimples that the bracket would bend somewhere else before the 90...
Ferro, The hitch is a SAF/Holland CP-740. They go for around $1,600.00 from the mfr.
beltfed34 (Austin Aviation) on ebay has them for a much better price.
Ron,
The hitch is a SAF/Holland item. It's held to the rear cross member by four 7/8" countersunk allen bolts. Plenty stout, I'm thinking.
The lever closest to the crossmember on the left is the latch, the other one, same side is the hook lock that swings the jaw open. The little "H" shaped...
Each and every day Bill, each and every day.
I cranked out four different t-case mount configurations before I got a set that I trusted to support the weight and that didn't need to ba assembled like a chinese puzzle.
Lots of stuff has ended up in the scrap heap; but I'd much rather iron out the...
Antenna mounts...
The MAXRADs are mounted on the mirror bracket. I made a different base bracket so I could put the GPS antenna there too.
Sugar scoop bases mount the AS 3900 and the VLQ-14 antennas. the adapter bracket at the bed headboard location spaces the set-up out for clearance.
Hello Maddawg.
The buckets allow the LED lights to be mounted in place of the stock set-up with no changes. The faceplates are self-contained and so water proof that the wiring comes out of the bucket through a 1" hole with no sealing plug or gasket. The TruckLite LEDs will even mount directly...
More stuff.
Small bracket for the B/O drive light.
A modified switch panel relocates the trailer brake controller and opens up space for more switches. The sheet metal 'eyebrows' hold LED strip lights for illumination. Reostat dimmer controls brightness.
With the aid of three friends and a...
Here are a few little projects I've cranked out so far.
New dash mount bracket for the first aid kit.
Went with LEDs for the front and rear lights as well as markers. The neat thing about the LED set-up is that everything is in the face plate making the light bucket(s) a convienence rather than...
ColdWarrior; Well, it slowed me down but I didn't stall out. Am just making smaller, lighter parts like brackets, clamps and stuff to route and hold down hoses, lines and wiring harnesses right now. Hard to climb around when one's in a plaster-of-paris T-shirt.
Plus, I've just graduated out of...
