I forgot about this thread, thought I would post up and tell the board I passed my Tech test back in April. Studying for the General now. 73's to you, KE0JRH out.
Eliteweapons: Or rip your shorts off...when the left leg gets caught on the handle as you're stepping off the running board. Don't ask us how we know this.
Welcome! Not to be picky, but you might want to spell the word "deuce" correctly. Correct spelling will increase your chances of a successful search when using the word "deuce". And to answer your question, the biggest differences are with the engines and transmissions.
Is this in locally in Colorado? PM me the time, location and date. We can get this sent out in an email to our club members, which is probably a better target market anyway.
What was your indication that the transfer was in high range?
Here is one TM you should read ASAP. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/upload/M35/TM9-2320-209-10-1.pdf
There are others for your perusal under the "Technical Manuals" at the top of the page.
I recall seeing photos awhile back of a Deuce painted in a pink camo scheme. They used a flat pink, flat charcoal, flat black, and white for colors. My immediate thought was why would someone want to paint their vehicle that way. Upon reading the attached text, I understood why...it was to bring...
Probably would...if that's all you wanted to put in there. :) I leave the 20 ton air/hydraulic jack in my shop, the 8 ton bottle jack fits real nice in a Deuce tool box with all the other tools I have in there, including a chunk of 6" X 8" wood for the jack base.
Take the spring down to your local hardware store and try to match it. I don't believe there is a separate part number (NSN) for the spring, it's probably listed as a complete assembly. Check these folks out also: http://www.leespring.com/
I don't think the coil in a solenoid in it's last days will draw anymore significant current, they either work, or they don't. I've never had a Deuce solenoid apart, but it may be possible to open it up and tighten the outside nut while holding the bolt from the inside. Just a thought.
I can't answer the questions about starter draw and voltage drop, but clean terminals and a little Loc-Tite may cure your problems. Do you have the lock washers in place?
