I cant wait till I have time off to pull the head. Since I saw super black smoke at the time off over heating (clean now) a hole in how the piston could be possible. I was going to bid on 3 6.2's last month at pendleton but changed my mind. All three went for 300. WHat a deal when you have a...
While climbing from 3000 ft. to 9000 ft. in 100 degree heat in Death Valley, I noticed the sweet smell of coolant and a black cloud behind me (exhaust not usually visible in my truck). I thought I was over heating so I pulled over and my 26qt's of coolant was flooding the road. Under the hood...
Warning on the steering Block. While getting my M1008 aligned, the tech checked the block and two of the four studs were sheered (very close call). After several hundred dollars maching the two studs out, I check them every week to make sure they are at 100 pounds. I have bought a second stud...

After all, I did not go with the seal kit. I got the rebuild from Kragen and I have to swap backing plates. The unit is notched for alignment so it wont turn inside the plate. I am gong to try hammer and punch again to get it off.
M1008 square nut. I cannot remove this tight 4 sided nut and I am out of ideas. A crecent wrench, deep socket (because of the non removable rod) and a punch have failed to do it. I need an idea so I can get it off and place the mount on the new boost. Thanks
So while swapping belts today, I noticed a round sensor mounted in the block with no wire attached. The sensor looks like it has one blade just like a glow plug (unless the other blade broke off). It is between the power steering pump and the front glow plug. In my glow plug/AC wires, I found...
I just got my Kats freeze plug block heater today from Kragen for 12 bucks. The instructions are very poor. I was wondering which freeze plug to remove. I hope somebody has a trick to remove the hidden 20+ year plugs that will be frozen to the block. Any ideas/ pics
I just have to figure out how to get all three in my M1028. They are on pallets so I might have to bring a hoist. I wonder what they weigh. I think my old 1.5ton springs should be enough to handle three of them with some major sag. I knew I should of bought the M1028a2 or a3 for this job.
These are from the HMMWV and I was wondering what would be involved to make them fit in a CUCV. Would my parts from my old engine bolt on I noticed the intake/ oil filter angle are different. Also the intake manifold. Are these computer controled? Is it worth the hassle? ThX in advance
