It is definitely a fuel issue. How old is the fuel? Was it fresh or left in? If left in or in a can that has been sitting for more than a few months, try some fresh. My engine on my log splitter is very picky. It will hunt if I use e10 gas over a month old it will require more choke the...
Keep nurturing and training that young one. It is important that we teach our girls life skills such as these. Not only does it help them excel, it provides them an independence that is invaluable. My wife and I have been wrenching together since our teens. I've talked her through multiple...
Same issue this year... I just popped the hood yesterday on my wife's Rover that gets driven at least twice weekly and mice pulled the hood insulation down and made a nest under the intake on the valley pan!!! The paper towel roll put in the Deuce two weeks ago when I drove it is chewed up and...
A gentleman I work with picked up a 100th Anniversary HD Ultra Classic years ago dirt cheap... The story was the owner had put it in his shed next to the pool chemicals for the winter. When the weather broke and the roads were clean enough to get the bike out, there wasn't much of the Chrome...
Due to my poor choices in vehicles (others opinions), I've dealt with comments like these since I was 15 and bought my 1st MGB-GT.... I've had one to multiple MG's, Land Rovers, and Saabs in my drive since I was in my 20's. Honestly with proper PM they have been more reliable then many brand...
I'll agree.... Even with spin-on filters, if mine sits more than a week it still takes about 10 seconds to build "full" oil pressure if I don't crank it for a few seconds with fuel off. However, mine does start really fast...
Nice tunes... I'm too much of a purist... I want to feel the bass and the highs to make my eyes water, but only when slow or sitting still... Otherwise it is the symphony of cylinders and exhaust that I want to hear....
I'll echo the previous few posts... Find a "good" used trans...
Looking at it from another point of view.... It shows the abuse that these vehicles can take and still keep moving.... 5th gear was the only one not functioning prompting the OP to investigate... That is pretty impressive!
If you google it, you will find that it has been discussed before.... That being said, mine runs 160-165F... The highest I ever saw it was 185F and that was a 90F day and my third loaded hilly trip making it work, but as soon as I was back on the flats it would decrease again.
I'll guess the steering gear... That is what mine looked like when it started leaking. I was lucky, I topped mine off with Lucas a few times and then it stopped leaking... Yes, it is still full as it is verified as part of my pre-trip inspections :-)
Take it apart and see if the groove is in there for the correct u-joint!!!
Most likely someone matched up the dimensions and used what they found. There are many U-joints like the one pictured used on trucks and cars (i.e Super duty F350 front axle) which by the way if you cross reference...
Take it out, measure it, and match it up. Mine were the 5-115X and I used 332's from the local Auto Parts store.
I don't know if you have this cross reference link, it is helpful. The U-joints are on here as well. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthr...ce-Spreadsheet.
Below is the 5-115X...
Pretty common issue even on older civi trucks. I looked at a 94 K2500 two weeks ago for my brother that were all but rusted through... They were literally thinner than a led pencil...
Yep... I've seen it numerous times over the years... As recently as last month with a pair of ceramic pads with less than 6K miles on them for a Saab 9-3. I lost one on the inboard pad on the rear of my Land Rover two years ago... At least it was just squeaking and you didn't lose it causing...
Treat that hood ornament and your soldier "B" (required for repairs and backing up according to the TM's :-) ) with the love she deserves. My soldier "B" helped me pull all the wheels off my Deuce this past Wednesday (on her day off) to check wheel cylinders and linings for state inspection...
If I found "ONE" metal flake in my oil the size of a grain of sugar, I'd be investigating... Heck, I don't even like to see my oil come out too dark. Then again, I'm anal retentive when it comes to PM and the state of my vehicles. Even the old GM 5.7L with 321K miles on it still yields an...
I have a very steep hill in my yard that by using 1st Low and the front locked in, is easily negotiated without brakes. If it starts letting loose you apply a little throttle and steer it out. 2nd gear low is way too fast for the hill.. Out of the 3 garden and compact tractors we have only...
