    My clicker wrench failed had to pull out the old school torque wrench. Got the oil pan gasket and pan installed.

    If it is just the convertor, unbolt the trans inspection cover, unbolt the torque convertor from flex plate (6 bolts), get several jacks or a transmission jack, support transmission/transfer case, unbolt the 2 bolts in the middle of the cross-member, unbolt the four bolts holding cross-member...

    If your engine seems to be running at a higher rpm to keep a certain speed, then yes your trans is slipping and will need a rebuild. Just for kicks though try this, go to walmart, go to the auto section and in the additives isle get a bottle of Trans-X-Slip stop, it comes in a black bottle...

    Getting the oil pan gasket and rear main fix...............that was the cleanest looking oil pan on the inside that I have seen in a long time, and no cracks on any of the crank webs!

    The gauges are installed and lights working, volt meter gauge works but not sure if the oil pressure or water temperature will work till I get the rest of the project done.

    Major short in dash lights, had to go all the way to firewall connector, took 4 hours to trace and clean all the connections.

    Gauge install in progress. got the temp sensor installed in block and oil pressure line installed.

    While drive shaft is out, replacing the old leaking pinion seal with a new one.

    Removed the turbo 400 and flex plate to make room for the 700r4, while it is out will be replacing the leaking rear main and oil pan gasket.

    Pulled out the old worn out swollen glow plug installed new, with a new terminal end. Others had already been changed.

    If I do it about $1500 to do the 700r4 swap, If you do it yourself around $800-1000. I get about 18-20 mpg if I drive it nicely, if I do a lot of highway driving I get 16-17. Basically any thing over 55mph will hurt your fuel mileage. If I tow anything over 2500 lbs, my mileage drops to 13-14...

    M1008 Gearing or Transmisson

    I have done several 700r4 swaps into these trucks, just about ready to start another one. look for the post and pics in cucv "hot rod and modification". I will try to be a lot more detailed with parts, pics, and specs, then in the previous post I have done for these swaps.
