    Tire chain question

I had already had some of those o-ring style tensioners save in my wish list on Amazon ( Made by Security chain co. ) I don't think I'll wear a set out anytime soon ( probable rot out before they wear out ) so I went and ordered 6 of them that and I will move one of the cross chains back one...

    Tire chain question

Hmm well as I mentioned, I've already clipped these on the last link and have yet to drive it anywhere so I might just have to move the one cross chain back a link or two in order to get more links to cinch up on. PS 323 states the chain tension should only be set by hand (no tools )

    Tire chain question

Rmgill I can find no mention of the military using tensioners on these deuce tire chains so I'll assume that from personal experience you guys also recommend adding bungee/tensioners?

    Non-catalyzed Paint Durability

Its not the hardner that will lift the fresh/uncured paint its the solvents/reducers in the new paint going on top of it that will cause it to lift.

    Non-catalyzed Paint Durability

Its called Penetrol a ( oilbase ) paint conditioner, this stuff is a great rust inhibiter and it flows like water and drys nice and hard, I use it and a small artist size brush to get into tight areas where its tough for (spray ) paint/primer to get in ( i.e. stake pockets, seams, etc ) and then...

    Non-catalyzed Paint Durability

The Martin senour hardner is wicked and about $60pt ( 18yrs ago ) I used naptha with it and also xylene on another job. I was also very happy with the results using Valspar "Tractor & Implement" hardner ( $25pt ) on my current deuce. Gillespie is just plain Alklyd enamel ( I called GP coatings...

    Non-catalyzed Paint Durability

I've used hardner with Gillispie/ RAPCO paint all the time, It does not make it darker, it make it glossyer (sp). In the past I've used Martin senour 8870 catly/hardener and on my last paint job ( used 7 gals ) I used a universal hardener made by Valspar ( bought it at Tractor supply ). If you...

MEP-003A - Has anyone put a oil pressure light on their instrument pannel?

Hey guys The starter on the 002 & 3's already have a pressure bypass switch to which automacticly kicks off power to the starter once oil pressure comes up ( engine running) so ( if switch is working correctly ) your not going to grind the starter by over cranking on start up., remember the...

    MEP-003a Smoking

When was the last time the genset had a load on it?? My first genset would put out some blue smoke and when I talked to some marine diesel mechanics that I knew they told me that before I panic worrying about a rebuild to first put a load on it and let the piston rings reseat ( aka free up under...

    M37 Thermostat?

That debate can go on forever, I've had alway run a 160° but the best reason I've heard ( but don't nessassarly agree with ) about running a 180° is that at that temp you'll burn off more acids and such that build up in the oil from lack of use. I believe that running a 160° under the hood...
