I put red grease on the U-joints for the heck of it and put wheel bearing grease on the spindle bushings and behind the thrust washers since it will stick there pretty well.
That's how quickly mine failed last time. I just took it driving a few times and that was it, they started pouring gear oil. Definitely check the vents. I replaced all my rear seals axle and thought the vents were okay but the seals starting leaking gear oil the first drive because of the...
Check your spindle bushings. My buddy and I both just did our front axle seals( well I did his for a case of M855) and there was a TON of play. Took the spindles and axles to a 4x4 place and had them ream the bushings out and now they're good to go. Also check the end play on your knuckles. My...
I put about as money into the front axle and brake system as I paid for the whole truck. That's not including all the other stuff I had to fix. My brakes worked just fine but I figured what the ****, I'll just redo it anyways.
I noticed a sticker of a radio station in the beginning that's local to me. I'll contact him and see where they are. If it's the forest around here I may try and go get them with my deuce and save them from the possibility of being scrapped.
Mine has and extra latch like the other two on the hood. It's up too far to latch to the windshield so I guess they had something on the ring that it hooked to.
I'm replacing my front axle seals, shocks, kingpin and spindle bushings, kingpin plate, front brake shoes, all brake lines, and rebuild the master cylinder and wheel cylinders. Had lots of end play so it was time to fix stuff and I figured I may as well do the brakes while I'm at it for piece of...
Check the fuel line under the radiator. Mine is crushed an I have to do the same thing as you to get it started, and I have to give it a little gas to keep it going for the first 30 seconds, but once its warmed up a little it runs fine with plenty of power. I'll get around to replacing it one of...
My buddy are redoing our front axles and the entire brake system and the wheel cylinders and both trucks had the plain ended springs. My wheel cylinders did have a little fluid under the dust boots. The brakes did work great, especially after I adjusted all the brake pads, but I will feel...
I use the breaker bar that came with my truck and just put it on the lug nut and jump on it and that breaks it loose every time. I install them again the same way:-D
Don't drive a deuce if you are anti-social.
Don't underestimate a large hole in the ground with manual steering. Your arms will thank you.
Don't buy one if you don't want to or know how to properly maintain a vehicle.
I agree with shenkmen. DON'T BOB IT!
Thanks! The that's exactly what's happening with mine. I did find that first one but it didn't sound like my problem. I guess they put the piston in the air cylinder in backwards.
I did see a thread about that rebuild kit. I'm hoping it's just something with the air cylinder and not something more complicated. I guess I'll try getting one of those kits and replacing it.
My front wheel drive hasn't worked since I got my deuce, but I never checked into it because I had other work to do to it. I finally got around to looking into it and found a few problems. It's an air-shift transfer case and the air cylinder was leaking air around the plate, so I tightened all...
