    High altitude 6.2 operation

I bought my first CUCV from boyce equipment in ogden UT. And drove it through soldier pass on the way home. It still pulled 55MPH empty. I can't rember what elevation that was but it seemed pretty high. I would sudjest. installing a larger exaust, at least 2 1/2 inch. And stop it before the...

    What to do after flooding?

Mark, Wheel bearings! Clean and repack. Don't let them sit too long They will rust on you. The duece's front axle will need a teardown. The axle shaft bushings will need a cleaning and repacking also. And of course pull the axle fill plugs and check for water.

    which generator/s for motorhome project?

My sudjestion would be the MEP-016B. It's rated for 3KW and can run 220V. It should be more than you'll need. As with other military equipment it's underrated. Mine burns about 1 quart of diesel per hour at 75%load. Holds about 2 gallons and will run 8 hours easy on a tank. It's made by onan. The...

    Banks Boost Questions

Don't expect much boost out of the sidewinder. The one on my 82 GMC will only make 8PSI under a hard load. If the tuck is empty 6PSI in the norm. Back pressure is a killer for the side winder. Shorten the exaust and you will see a difference. Or go to at least 4" pipe. The boost is kept low to...

    Deuce life expectancy.

Earth, No my seal wire has been gone for years. I turned the fuel rate up back when i was assigned to it in the fire dept. There are a few guys on here that have ridden in mine and will tell you it's much faster than most M35's. No i don't have the spin on adaptors. The oil filters are common...

    Deuce life expectancy.

We were talking in another thread about milage on a duece. And how to make them last longer. What do ya'll consider high milage for one of these? i've put more that 160K in the last decade. To some this seems quite high. But for a diesel truck this doesen't seem much to me. Who else has broke...

    Trans Oil Overview 3053A

Like Waller i too use the 75-90 syntec. I've put just over 160K in this truck since 1999 with no problems. And countless hours at low speed in the woods. I know mistik makes a MT-1 90W gear oil. I have seen it at autozone. But i've never tried it.

    Engine modifications - bottom end

Aaron, "turning up the fuel rate" or adding more fuel will cause more fuel to burn therefore more heat. And higher Exaust Gas Temp. Having a turbo or not won't change that. A turbo will push more air through and in some cases keep the temps lower just because more air is present. Adding fuel is...

No power EGT's up there HELP

Steve, If you have run alot of used oil, the turbine blades may be coaked. I have seen this many times. Pull the exaust pipe and inspect the turbine. Oiley resedue may be clogging the gap between the turbine and the exaust gas casing. This usally happenes in cold temps. It's alot like a...

    M127 stake semi trailer restoration

I have one that i'm slowly working on. Im putting more attention into my M52A2 first though. I found a place here in houston that will redeck it. So i'm planning on that next spring. I got lucky on it, it came with all the side boards and even had all the lights working. Even the blackouts. I...

    LDT-465-1D with Whistler Turbo in 54' M54

Mike, Although that turbo whistles. It is the larger LDS turbo with the wastegate. A much better setup than the "C" model. Most 5ton multi's use this model.

    Leaking Turbo

You right about the balence. If your not dead on, it won't last very long. They will start to vibrate and wear the bearing prematurely. And or the rotor will colide with the housings. This is garenteed to ruin your day. There is a very small unbalence tolerence for them. If you decide to take...

    Transfercase bearings.

We took the M37 out on the road yesterday for about 10 miles. It was good to finnally have it on the road after all this work. But we found the rear output on the transfercase is loose after hearing a vibration at 40 MPH. Does anyone know the part numbers for these bearings? i'd like to have...

MEP 003A, is it worth the extra $$$ for the ASK?

I'm with mark. I pulled the kit off of my 016 thinking it might run hot in texas weather. And you can't tell much difference in noise level. My 003 reminds me of a ice cream truck. It isn't loud but the sound carries on for miles. My nearest neighbor is 250 feet away. And the other is about 700...

    Fording Thought

If your fording more than just a river crossing or just being under water for more than a few minutes. I sudjest lossening the fan belts. The fan and water pump will love you for it. And the water your fording will chill the engine rather quickly anyway.

    converting stock wheels to tubeless

The UPS truck that comes here everyday has 6 lug 22.5 tubeless wheels on it. I don't know where you would get new ones though. That way at least you could run tires that you could get replacements for at any truck stop.
