My local mom and pop auto parts store carries gates braded hose. A good auto parts/truck parts place should be able to get it for you. That heater hose can't handle oil that hot from the turbo for very long. There isn't much pressure there but there is alot of heat when the engine is laboring...
They are intended for blackouot type operations in combat. Having said thet. They don't provide much light at all. And that's on porpose. If you look at the bumpers you will see what's called the "cat eyes". If you are closer than 50 feet to the truck when they are on they will appear to be 2...
It sounds like your truck is starving for air. The next time you head to modesto run down 99 and accelerate hard. I'd bet your getting alot less smoke down there. You can open the air cleaners hole to help more air get in at higher elevation. But you'll probally need to shorten or replace the...
The best thing you can do for your turbo is exactly what you are doing. Let it cool before shutting it off. As far as a cleaner to remove the coking? No i have to sand blast it off with glass beads. It hardnes after a while and won't come off with a solvent.
The "C" model was before the "D"...
I regestered mine with normal texas truck tags. Last reg was $163. Some counties have higher road and bridge fees. I went this route so i could haul or go where ever i wanted when ever i wanted. I didn't want to have to look over my shoulder every time i went some where in it. And it doubles as...
My dads airforce crew cab did the same thing. After a few oil pan gaskets and rear main replacements. He found it was the plug/cap at the end of the camshaft. You can inspect it with a flashlight and a mirror. Unbolt the tourque converter and slide it back. Then rotate the engine untill one of...
You really did a great job on the muffler. Mine was installed by the Fire Dept that had it before. I left it on the truck because it makes such a big difference. But it is huge and quite ugly. I will be doing your mod this fall.
I just bought a universal cable from a guy on ebay. He speciallizes in getset parts. Mostly military ones. It was about 7 feet and you cut it to length. I think it would work out great for this. It's very close to the one in your pic. His number is 574-674-0255.
I think i have enough engine power to pull these gears. Turning up the fuel rate does wonders. But running that fast with ND's doesen't seem like a good idea. I'd have to get a set of road tires. And if you load your truck and work it. You would probally need low range to get rolling. Gears in...
The STE-ICE machine has everything you need to do a compression test. Even the adaptor for the multi's injector hole. You might try getting one off of GL?
I'll have to chime in here too. The M37 we got from him was in much better shape than we thought it would be. And he did exactly as he said he would . Thanks again!
When i drove mine home from San Antiono last year. It had a bad head gasket. And was running on 5 cylinders. Too much water entering cylinder #3. Even running that rough it could easily run 55MPH. I had to stop at each rest area to add water and oil. But it had plenty of power. If you have a...
Fuel filter numbers are the same for the 2 1/2 ton trucks. The numbers for most brands are listed here on this site in the resources section. I use wix filters. 33511 and 33512. These filters are also used on detriot diesels. So most truck parts places will have them.
Check out the forrestry service auctions in lufkin. You can get a truck cheep there. It will be a used fire dept truck and probaly need some work. But then again so do most GL trucks. Most FD trucks have hard tops to. Although it may be a forrestry service add on. Good luck and welcome to SS.
The "D" turbo has a bigger bearing, a extra heat shield, and a larger compressor wheel and housing. The "D" also has a better oil flow system for the bearing. The "C" sounds better to most guys. The "C" is more than capable of outlasting the truck. But is more prone to baking oil in the turbine...
