I just lost another 6.2 to a bad harmonic balencer. The rubber seperated from the outer ring and the engine busted the crankshaft. This balencer was 2 years old. I had changed it out when i installed this engine. But as with everything else these days it was made in china. I'll be inspecting...
I have a kit for the 50 series on my M52. You will need a regulator, flapper valve and fittings to pressurize the bellhousing first. This keeps the clutch dry so it won't slip. You will also need to plumb a vent tube from the sprag shifter valves on top of the tranny. So water won't enter and...
Having driven both trucks. Trust me. There isn't much more room. The drivers seat is still up aginst the door. and the gear shifter for the auto tranny is close to your right leg. Prevew one at a GL auction so you can sit in it and see. It won't make much difference.
They are right. The only thing you will have to change is the starter. The Injection pump and glow plugs run off of 12V. Most electrical circuts on the CUCV are 12V. The Starter is 24V so that slaving other NATO equipment won't be a problem. Just connect your ignition wire in the cruisers wiring...
Does anyone know what the clearence adustments would be with the engine cold? We whave the intake and exaust manafolds off to fix the leaks. And udjusting the valves with everything off and cool would be much more pleasent. That and it would be easier to teach the kiddo when he can see it...
If you contune to have the problem. There is a brace. It looks like a ring with the bolt circle in it. You will need the longer crank bolts used in the manual trannies. It bolts on and clamps the flexplate to the crank. It was used on the 6.2 and 292 L6 gas powered short school buses. A...
Is the valve in the exaust manafold in the open position? Allowing heat to the carb? Mabye boiling the gas in the bowl? I closed the one in the kids truck and it starts fine when hot now.
I can't stress how important this bracket is! My 95 6.5TD is sitting in the back with a busted block. The prevouse owner didn't bother remounting the bracket, after a starter replacement. When it goes it's quick! With no warning! It's a shame to loose such a good running engine over a simple...
Look for a 6.5 turbo setup from a van. The turbo is mounted higher than the turck set up. the civi 6.5 hummer and van use the same parts. You will also need the shorter 6.5 injectors to clear the exaust manafold on the passenger side.
I installed a squeese bulb for a outboard motor in the fuel line. It only takes a few squeeses by hand to fill the filter. It's alot easier on the starter and relay now.
