New member with a new Deuce

As for insurance, ask your auto insurance company. Mine has a grace period when I buy a new vehicle where they will cover it for a short period even if I don't notify them. Call yours and ask. I would get liability only because even if you hit something, you aren't going to cause much damage...

    SUMOMAN'S Recovery!!!!

Sounds like the batteries might be saved. First, get a rubber hammer and whack the sides of the batteries to loosen the sulfates then see if they will charge.

    .50 cal paint

Most military guns are parkerized. It is a process where either zinc phosphate or manganese phosphate is deposited on the steel itself. The color can range from medium gray to flat black. But it will work ONLY on regular steel, not aluminum or stainless steel. Go the cheap route and get flat...

    Title Fun

Similar to the salvage yard 'storage lien', I believe that most states allow a shop (and maybe even an individual) to put a mechanic's lien against the vehicle. You said that you have fixed it and put your money into it, therefore you have a lien against it. This is probably a slow route to...

    Stuck in my yard....TWICE!!

If you put a new shear pin back in and pit it in reverse, you can easily back out the winch.

    M816 Army Tank Museum Australia

The more i am around bit green trucks, the more I appreciate the simplicity and utility of them. With just a little TLC, they will run practically forever.

Here we go long distance deuce recovery

Tips: 1. GET ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE INSURANCE! 2. Get a good cushion for the seat. You will need it. 3. Get some of the Bose noise canceling headsets that still allow you to plug in a radio. 4. Plan on taking at least 5-6 days. Many years ago I made the trip from Whidbey Is to a small town in...

    EUC - Such randomness!

And when you call up to ask what the status is, they will still tell you that they have received nothing. But I have a receipt!", you say. Umm, so what? They don't care anything about doing a good job. I have a feeling that my EUC has "never been received" because some bozo forgot to put...

What's the advantage of 24volt system?

Yes, it was to make it compatible with the other military vehicles. And realm is right, you use half the amps while cranking on a 24v system.
