My old 72 was great about starting cold, maybe all that time in South Dakota sank in. This 68 is pretty quick normally, not as quick or strong as the 72. I hope yours fires up for you....nothing ruins a day like fighting with a stubborn diesel.....
I acted too slow, I told the boss we needed to set those off to the side. I went out today and they have mutilated them all with loaders. The fluids have been drained, radiators ripped out, it sucks, to be honest. I was hoping to help some guys out with some hard to find parts. I plan to go to...
His truck has juice, just not enough juice to fire. Who knows how long it has been sitting there dead. I plan to go get it and have it here for him, just take my pickup and a set of slave cables, yes I have them, no I do not have the adapters. They work great between my CUCVs, but not the two...
What? The newest consesus is that the 6.2 is good for over 4,000 rpm. It had to be something else!
As for my personal 6.2s, I am still trying to keep them under 2200.... call me slow and behind the times...
Jump right in there Seth! That should be about a bump of the starter button! I failed to note that this is running on JP-8, I think, it is old fuel out of those junk five tons we bought. Most of them are marked JP-8 only. They have not had engines in them since the 1990's. The fuel lines were...
That is classic! That was the 110 pound Bud Boy voicing his opinion about the deuce running off without him. He thinks anytime I leave without my work bag, he is entitled to go too.
My old 1972 would fire easily in cold weather. When I sold it to another member and bought a different one, I just hoped it would do the same. While it never fires as fast as my 72 did, it is good about starting. It was slower this morning than it has been. I think part of it was the fuel being...
You should have lots of power, even with a 6.2 diesel. I also think they were locked in low side of the transfer case. Maybe 15 to 20 tops. It was probably designed to pull 60K or more around the air field.
They were super low geared, seems like 3.50 at the axle and 6.0 at the hubs for a 22 to 1 gear ratio. It has been a while since I looked them up, but that sticks in my mind.
Check the intermediate shaft between the two gear boxes. Take two long 3/4 inch wrenches with you and make sure the nuts and bolts are tight. They have this horrible habit....
You guys in Texas have Palo Duro Canyon, it would be great for a rally! I did not see any decent sized deer when I was in Texas, lots of them, just much smaller than what I am used to. Glen
