As I understand it, in late WWII the miltary went to 23070 semi-gloss, which is what I painted my Deuce with being I was tired of painting my trucks 24087
I have the newer style aux plug ( pic shows my mre heater plugged into it ) that mounts in the dash, got it from Saturn Surplus ( http://saturnsurplus.com/lights/7976648.htm ) but last I heard they are out of them.
Originally they had the British #19 or a #22 Radio set in them ( WWII vintage ) then later retro'd to the "Larkspur"radio set and then followed by the "Clansman" set., If I remember correctly I had the #19 set in my Ferret which I purchased from Brian Asbury in Canada
Not sure
Last year I saw it for sale ( again ) and the location was now listed as West Palm Bch ( I went and saw it in Atlanta..sniff ) and I don't see it on Brandon's site anymore
How the heck did U-haul rent you a trailer for that 37??
I tried it once and when U-haul asked the weight of the vehicle I was going to haul with it they hung up on me.
Nice 37, you could not have picked a better (model) military vehicle and as mentioned we're gonna need to see more pic's and...
I found a set of nos front and rear cavas curtains on e-bay for $75 plus ship but then a buddy of mine said he had some in his barn I could pick through when I go down to his place in Fla next month
I just bought a nos canvas cargo top for $225. Guy said he had 5 vinyl ones for $300ea so I went up and looked at them turned out all 5 of them were for 5 tons, he also had two deuce canvas ones so I settled for one of those. The canvas one I bought is a later production being it has the black...
Nope
You can't move to the forward side of the support as would interfere/block the bottom rad flow pipe. You could possible move the whole rad support forward but than none of the associated sheet metal would fit. Now if you could find the correct offset Canadian M-37 radiator that would...
Actually the rad can stay where its at you just have to remove the fan spacer off the water pump, it would be a close fit but only issue would be when it came time to change the fan belt being the fan blade would only be about 1/2-3/4" from the radiator fins
Just about as hard to find as a good 230 block and alot easier to do than a 4bt conversion that you suggest.
Doin
If your mind is set on going with a different engine, A buddy of mine has a 251 in one of his 37's and its a night and day difference with performancs and there is not alot to do...
Not as big a deal if you using the stock tranny/bellhousing and in leiu of the custom engine mounts you go with the afore mentioned cast steel timing cover/engine mount that was used on older 318's.
Ugli truckling hasn't made mount kits since he packed up and moved the business to Thialand
The 318ci v-8 conversion is suppose to be a pretty straight forward swap being I've read that the old 230 bellhousing will bolt right up to it. If memory serves me right you would also look for a old cast steel timing cover/front engine mount which will bolt up to the old (230) front mount...
