Well vtach, I don't know what to say here. You asked about what RPM's to check alt. output at and I found you an answer and then you shoot back a curt answer about another question you asked.

Under Resources at the top of the page, go to Technical Manuals, find TM 9-2320-361-20 and go to page 2-90. Page has the procedure for testing at various RPM's etc.

Made my gauge pod for my pyrometer and boost gauge out of parts of two balck PVC couplings and glued the remaining piece and a PVC cap together and made a cup holder.

That is very low alternator output. Charging voltage on batteries should be 28V +/- 0.2V.
Something is not right.
Check the TM for proper procedure to increase the alt. output.

I don't have a m1008, so I can't give you particulars. But, it is an electrical problem and the way to solve them is to get out your wiring diagram and your multimeter and track it down.
Works every time for me:-D.

I don't know what make and model you have, but mine is a Budgit rated at two tons.
Sticker on it says Catalog 905403.
For repairs use Model # 504521-1.
