    single tires to duals

They are not really a true split rim, they have a lock ring. You can still do them at home, it is a lot of work though. Glen

    single tires to duals

Just some labor and the cost of tires and tubes, the deuce wheels will be perfect. You just gain 4 inches in diameter and the fuels will be a little closer together.

    Test drives beginning Friday...

Miles and miles and miles.....:razz: what is a few miles? I hear you though, I had high hopes for a M818 at Malstrom, but the 1800 dollar recovery cost kind of deterred me a little! Somehwere, sometime, a M818 or M916 will blow by within grasp and I will snag it. Good luck in your search!

How to secure winch 5 ton multifuel from not functioning

I have a friend that winched the cable into the edge of the drum, it broke several internal parts that he made on his own shop equipment. I am sure there are parts sources, but he insisted on self repair. Could get expensive quickly. I know I am not very good about checking mine, if some kids...

    single tires to duals

On the flat tire issue, I would much rather run one flat and destroy the tire than take a chance in traffic changing one. Along the same lines, I would rather recognize right away that it is flat and look for a solution, than catch one on fire not realizing it was flat. Once you get a tire and...

    single tires to duals

Bet that is rough on bearings and U-joints. That is an enormous jump in gear ratio. I know they used to run 4.10 front and 4.11 rear, but to go to a 4.11 to a 3.08 is huge! I can hear the transfer case crying from here. Bet it was next to impossible to get out of four wheel drive.

    single tires to duals

I agree with the Cattleman, only I think you would gain a little horizontal stability on duals. I would not trade the driving ease for the added stability unless I really planned to do some serious sidehills. Glen

    primary feul filter ?

Under the alternator or generator. Do yourself a favor and unhook the batteries, it is an awkward place to visit and easy to drop a wrench or move a wrench into the wrong spot. You can follow the flex line in front of your IP down and across the lower engine saddle up to the primary filter.

Better knock it off Jay, you will have me looking at the A3s if you keep rubbing it in.... I hope Steve does not have any more issues, that deal is just raw and stinks. Guess that is the gamble we all take, but man oh man, that would sting. Glen

Karl, I thought my sand A2 ran good, that A3 of his just leaps away from me. I had no idea they had that kind of power. I went with good intentions though, if he had a failure, old Sandy was going to tow him home for fuel costs. You cannot beat a back up deal like that... and I brought ten free...

That one was as easy as they come, the masses here are due for a few easy recoveries. You did good my man, that red X on the windshield must mean something to somebody, but I cannot tell it meant a thing as far as your truck's condition. That is a nice rig, once again, it was great meeting you...

I thought we might be doing that Jay! I beat you by a few minutes, but mine did not crash. It was great meeting you guys! If a Moderator can combine the two threads, that would be super! http://www.steelsoldiers.com/deuce/75581-jays-september-22-2011-riley-m35a3-recovery.html Glen

I agree, the recovery and trip home is as good or better than owning the truck! They make a great mini vacation!

    Jay's September 22 2011 Riley M35A3 Recovery

A few more photos... I ran into some cool looking low lying fog on the way over. The bouncing of the A2 sure played havoc with my camera's ability to focus! The fog rolling off of the river at Riley and blowing north west over the hill was beautiful to watch, unfortunately my batteries died...
