They are military trucks, heavy and slow. They were designed to reliably pull a heavy load off road, they travel with other heavy slow vehicles in convoys. They were never intended to run highway speeds. They were intended to be a war machine, get the troops and their supplies to the front. They...
52 or 53 were built in 1969, we had one in Salina for a while. It belonged to a neighbor and I had not a clue how rare it was, or how collectible it would become. It is an ultra rare beast indeed. You will search for a very long time to find one, according to this site, 39 are accounted for...
I think you are posting to:
A. Stir up trouble
or
B. Get your post count to 100 to peddle your items here.
Everything you have asked has been covered many times before.
Your short snippy cell phone like replies would make one suspect you are under age 18.
Not trying to step on toes and I...
The old GMC we used to pick up bales with was pretty mobile. As I recall, it would go about anyplace my CJ2A would go, providing there was enough room to navigate the slow turning old boat. 8^) Glen
Turn it into a winch mount, I used a section of frame off of a John Deere drill for the bumper, made 1/4" support brackets and used a 3/8ths plate for the face mount. I could triple block a 8,000 winch and never had anything give....sliding tires, I guess. I had a 10,000 winch under the box and...
State Farm here too. 27 years on the street and I have yet to stop a military vehicle for a traffic infraction, not an OD or Sand one anyway. Stopped a few recruiters and cars, even made some DUI arrests.
I have stopped to talk to a lot of service men though, just to thank them for their...
That will not work in Kansas, out of state vehicles have to go through a VIN inspection prior to tagging, done by the highway patrol or local sheriff's office. Out of state antiques require a patrol inspection.
All states are different, probably even courts within a state, no tags or...
I drove mine home from SD, about 700 miles the route I took. I had insurance and an antique tag off of another Kaiser, a 68 M715, but it just said Kaiser Jeep, never mind that mine was an AM General. I never put the tag on, just drove it home with my M1008 in tow. Glen
If you get close to Salina, we can walk around mine and you can drive it. Not a wincher, but should be close other wise. I would be glad to be a Kansas aid station for you. If it lays down on the way home, post up and somebody will try to help by phone or in person. The trucks coming out of...
Mine made 12 on my last trip. Right at 11 mpg coming home in February pulling my M1008. I need some oil! 35 to 40 mpg is rocking for a deuce!
Cookeemann has a strong running M109! He hit the highway with the screamer turned on! Blew right by me like I was standing still!
Saline County did not say anything about heavy tag, but they did say there was no weight limit. Haul what I want, run as many miles as I want, just nothing commercial. Glen
How far are we talking? Some guys pull axles, some guys pull drive lines, if I had an appropriate trailer, I would haul it. Surely there is some kind soul around the pick up point to help load it. Glen
Their truck is making good power now. I followed it for a few miles and it runs good. The wind will have a huge effect on anything with the aerodynamics of an ammo can.
Thanks Karl, I very seldom, like almost never, run over 2200 rpm. On the Titans by GPS it runs about 48 mph actual ground speed. My speedometer reads a little slow. Somehow a 48 mph con trail does not sound quite Kosher....
