Get after it and HIT it! I used a piece of #4 rebar and a 7 pound single jack.
What's wrong with punching the pin out of the clevis? Nothing is going to fly around and hit anything or anybody. I even suggested tying down the chain and cable, just in case. This is getting complicated. aua
I helped somebody with this before. Punch one of the clevis pins out and be done with it. Secure the chain and cable to the bumper with a tie-down strap. We just had a loud "pop" and that was it. By the way it takes two to properly operate a winch, one in the cab, and one on the ground.
During start-up, use the time the low air buzzer is on to do your before operation checks. PMCS. By the time I'm done with the walk-around, the buzzer is satisfied there is enough air in the tanks. I have both buzzer and light on my Deuce.
Back in my fast car days, we also would paint the valleys of the heads to make the oil get to the pan quicker. We also painted the inside of the block up to the crank journals for the same reason. Neat stuff. Don't know if it helped that much, but it was fun to do while putting a race motor...

Erik's has most, if not all, of the wiring parts you'll need to make Mil-Spec repairs. I have done the same thing Runk has done, replace the tattered wire connectors with new units, and cut out the frayed portion of the wire that enters the connectors.
