Nice set up and process. You do realize that some government types might call what you have as a refinery. Which has all kinds of regulations. Keeping a lower profile is probably a good idea.
Do you have the flame assist cold starting set up? The fuel line for that is plastic and when cracked can leak between the engine and turbo. Something to check that is an easier and cheaper fix than the turbo.
Everything that bolts to the 6.2 engine is metric. The rest of the truck is a guess.
M10 x 1.5 sounds correct. There is a nut on the other side of the water pump holding the solid fuel line clamp. You can remove it with no chance of causing any leaks easily. It should be the same size and just...
The water pump pulley getting pulled from both directions is probably why your passenger alternator was still installed.
Here is a video about the power steering tool:
I put the tool on upside down because I couldn’t figure out how to film and hold it the correct way. Then I forget to...
They make a lot of noises that take a while to get used to what is normal and what isn’t. Are you wearing hearing protection? That is a must and also makes things sound totally different.
Do you have good oil pressure?
Look at your hood hinges at idle. They tend to get loose and bounce like...
OK. I just read through 4 different tow bar TM’s from the 1960’s to the 1990’s. They all say to put the “foot” curve up for towing with all the wheels on the ground. However, for the HMMWV only when lifting and towing they show it mounted curve side down as you have it.
I must have confused a...
Turn the feet over before you actually tow with it. I have seen pictures on this site of broken bits and all the TM’s say don’t run with the towbar feet upside down like they are in the picture.
Reading this it finally dawned on me. My M715 is going to go from the only m715 that sometimes shows up every few years at club events. To a very ugly duckling. I’m going to have to tell my truck about your progress. It may never run again.
Looking good. The humids came back this morning with...
I am pretty sure I had all LED big bucket lights at all 4 corners on my M715 before I painted it and went correct for it small bucket lights. The blinkers worked. But, that has been 18 years.
I know I had LED buckets on my 35A2 before I got tired of them failing one diode at a time and went...
I don’t have a HMMWV. But, the same parts are used on my M35 and M715 trucks for the blinker system. Your “new” blinker box is almost broken is my thought. My M715 unit does just as you describe. If you leave it on for a few minutes, it might start blinking like normal. At least mine does...
Here is a video with both types of starter motors. The proper starter motor bolts. Both types of support brackets and the proper numbers of the brackets:
I put a NV4500 behind a 6.2 in my M715 12 years ago. I could not find a proven workable mechanical clutch throw out collection of parts at the time. I have not looked since then, but my hours of vehicle related internet time every day has revealed nothing on this subject.
2 things to add...
Yes, the firewall glow plug resistor can smoke during use. Here is a video about things that can go wrong with the resistor and things that can be bad if you bypass it:
I would suggest you load test both batteries. If you don’t have a tester, pull them both and take them to an auto parts...
