Congrats on getting them home safely S2000. Hopefully your brakes will be a simple issue. My 818 had no brakes when BigWheelBob picked it up. Turned out it had a leaky wheel cylinder. After filling and bleeding the system, it'll stop on a dime. Looks like having them hauled was the right...
Welcome to the SS family Millwoodva! Where are you in VA? We are trying to get a group together for a covoy and drive-in in the Tidewater area. Also, Maddawg308 and a few others are working on an off-road rally for the spring around Charlottesville.
Look on the VA member map and see if any...
John Winslow in Halifax, NC may have a used one. He's a nice guy to deal with and his prices are good too. If he doesn't have one, then try CSI in GA. They have a large selection of 939-series parts, but they are quite a bit more expensive. Joe Czarnik aka GIJoeCzar on this site has some 939...
RE: Re: ISO
I liked the siped tires too. They almost look like NATO tires. The ISO bed manual actually specifies that the bed latches need to be facing inside to prevent wear on the top.
Mark, is it just the sides and gate that are light-weight? I know they were made lighter for easier removal, but it wouldn't make sense to make the bed floor and frame of lighter material considering the loads they were designed to carry.
Phew, just finished re-reading this thread again. You know, looking back at 2007 and all. What a crazy 3 months it was to get it ready for Aberdeen. I do miss a lot about the 939-series and I will own another one. Hopefully sooner rather than later :) In the end, it was worth it. The...
Very cool pics Craig. You don't see a whole lot of info on the ISO beds online. I would love some more detailed shots of the bed tie-downs, side storage, tire davit, etc... Thanks!!
My 1970 M35A2 w/w was powered by the LD-465. It was perfectly happy at 55 MPH for hours on end. At that speed I could pull quite a few TN, KY and WV hills without downshifting farther than 4th. I ran 50-55 MPH all the way from Memphis, TN to Charleston, WV, which is about 600 miles and...
I probably will run the WVO in the 818 when it warms up a bit. I just like giving you a hard time about it :D
Chris, if you decide to buy Kenny's parts winch, let me know and I'll get you some pics of it.
It's still in the driveway where it's been since I picked it up. :) If only I would have taken it to Aberdeen along with that 55 gallon drum of WVO that is still sitting behind my office (Bjorn) ;)
Groundhog, did you buy a kit to rebuild your valve? I need to rebuild mine. I found a NOS one, but if I can rebuild the one I have, I might try that first.
Ha, you're right Will, but darned if it didn't look connected to the PTO.
Congrats Devin! I know what you mean about the Mog not filling the need. I finally had to sell mine and get a 5-ton! It was fun, but just wasn't the same as having a big ripping diesel hauling you down the road.
