Thanks David. I know what you are saying. I have felt the same way about some of the trucks I have sold over the years. There will always be other 939-series trucks out there if I want another one. The best cure for selling one truck is to buy another one as quickly as possible to replace it...
:) true...true, but it may make me go from 6 MPG to 5 MPG ;)
Ouch! I'll have more in the genset than the trailer  I may have to pop down to Winslow's and scope one out in his field.
Thanks for the links Kenny. I have looked at the 313, but was considering the 146 because it is smaller and lighter. The 313 is around 16k empty and the 146 is 7k. The 313 is 320" long and the 146 is 270". I do like the deck on the front and the heat/AC housing. It would great to be able...
Has anyone seen a M146 trailer field-modified to have AC? If there is no official way to do it, then I have seen some really small window units at the big-box stores that might fit one of the side windows.
I am thinking about a 146 for a SS HQ and RV for shows and rallies. I would like to run...
RE: thanks
You can download the manuals from LOGSA. I checked the manuals for you and found the following:
Clutch Alignment Kit p/n: A37M NSN: 5180-00-449-3785 Supply cat. number: 4910-95-CL-A31
You might try your local Cummins dealer for it.
Hi Andy. Nice Dodge and nice M812. Sounds like a fun swap. I would say replace the pilot bearing, the throw-out bearing and clutch/pressure plate (if they are at all worn). I would have the flywheel honed. I would replace the rubber motor mount busings. It would be a good time to replace...
RE: Re: RE: Tires, Tires, Bla, Bla, Bla
The only thing better than wrestling a 14R20 is wrestling one with a rim, hub and brake-drum attached. That was a PITA! Thanks for doing the dirty work for us Westy!
There's a little bit for everyone here Neil. There are purists that wouldn't dream of putting a non-period shade of OD or incorrectly sized star on their truck and there are those who would chop the back off of a deuce to make a 4x4 bob-truck. Everyone seems to get along just fine. There is...
Cool fire truck Neil! It looks like a very solid foundation for a resto project. I see you are in IN. You'll have to stop over and see us at Haspin Acres next year for the 4th annual SS Rally. Just be careful if you off-road it. The rear overhang has been known to get hung up and bent. One...
Here's a picture of my 923A2 5-ton next to Gilbert's M35A2 for size reference. The 809-series sit just a couple of inches lower. I happen to think my truck is quite sporty, but if you've never owned a large truck before, you'll be shocked. I don't know about Canada, but here in the states...
Re: RE: Re: RE: M292A2 for sale
I thought you knew something I didn't know  I'll spray it desert tan CARC if you want to add it to your collection, Will! :D
Hey Jones. I haven't heard of those exact problems before and I've done a lot of reading on the 939-series trucks. That doesn't mean it hasn't happened before, but not that I've seen. My Allison shifts nice and smooth up and down so it is hard for me to imagine it shifting so hard to break...
RE: Getting ready to paint - whats the "proper" pr
The local paint supply house, Napa in my town, gives out mixing cups, stirrers and filter funnels when someone buys paint. The mixing cups are great. They show all of the different ratios on the side. I usually mix up one or two gun cups...
Holy smokes! Maybe you need to sell me a Drive-A-Tank franchise so I can convince my wife to let me bring home some armor! Congrats on your latest acquisition.
Well, Lee asked me to get into this sharing of GL/GSA auctions, so here goes.
My official position on this has been to not take an official position. Some of you may suggest that I am taking the easy way out or dodging the issue, but what I am actually trying to do is maintain SS as an open...
RE: 800 series air filter #
Hey Lane. There was a discussion about this last week I believe. The conclusion was that there is no civilian counterpart filters available for the 809 or 939 series air filters. They will have to come from a MV dealer like Winslow.
I don't have my manual in...
